I have bought and LG 42px5d, it has a lot of 'red snow' a people have been calling i and after research i found the solution by adjusting the screws on the power board, i adjusted the VA and VS which seemed to take care of most of the problem but there were still visible problems, i then adjusted the 5V screwand put the voltage up too high and the tv wont turn on now, the standby button is red and then turns yellow for 10s then back to red, the relay still switched but nothing. Does anyone know what the problem would be and how to fix ? If it is just a few components that needs replaced that have shorted, wired or the whole board ?

SOURCE: to make a long story short originally bought the

Sounds like the y sus was blown out but what cause it. Were you careful when you were checking voltages? As long as you didn't short 2 components together, your y sus should be fine. Unless the y buffer up and/or down blew them out. Even the panel could blow it.

Basically you need a scope to adjust the ramps and everything. You can adjust VA and VS with a meter. If you don't have access to a scope, then just start changing the ramps etc by eye. It might take a little bit to get but eventually you'll get it.

Are you certain the replacement power supply is good? A defective main board or power supply can cause this problem.

Red Snow on HDTV

I had the same problem, and it drove me nuts. I called the store where we bought it since we still had a warrenty. They replaced a (horizontal deflection/scanning?) card on the set, and it got much better. I could, however still see a tiny amount of red, so the tech adjusted it again to show me how much better it was now, but in the process, there was a flash and a loud pop - and the set was no more. They ended up replacing the set. So, there is a solution, but be careful who installs it.

Red dots on my LG 42PX5D

Hello, you do not need to replace any of the sustain boards in your TV to fix the problem you are having. All you need to do is remove the back cover and make an adjustment to the Y sustain board. You will need to adjust the set_up & or the set_down! If you would like to do the adjustments to your TV please feel free to give me a call or message me. Ask for Dave! 1-503-432-9904 or message me @ [email protected] You will need to remove the stand & the back cover. Then put the stand back on the TV so that you are able to set the TV in the up right position with the back cover off! Then you'll need to hook the TV up to a DVD player so that you are able to pause the picture while you are doing the adjustment to the Y sus! Do not adjust any other adjuster on the Y sus other then the SET_UP or the SET_DOWN. In order to identify the correct adjusters on the Ysus just look on the board and it should say SET_UP & SET_DOWN next to the correct adjusters. If you need more help please feel free to give me a call or message me!

Green hue on all inputs

Most likely there is a failure in the video processing. The flickering was from the failing components breaking down.

Your set can be serviced by an experienced tech who has spare boards and the facilities to service your set.

Snow

There is a fault in the main processor that is causing noise. The set will have to be serviced. The tech will probably try the main video processing board to start.

Plasma screen color problems

Hi
I just bought a 42pc5d plasma tv it's an LG I bought it in Sept. 07 it started doing the exact same thing your talking about here the red glow type thing. Luckily for me and I hope in your case that the tv is under warranty, although if you know someone or even a repair place I don't think it would cost much to fix (just a guess but the guy told me that it was an easy fix so don't let them try to screw you). It really is a simple fix according to the tech. You need to adjust the voltage. He took the tv and watched it until he saw the red and adjusted the voltage and I had my tv back the next day. This was about a week ago and I haven't seen it since. I hope this helps and I hope you have a warranty. By the way LG comes with a 2 year manufacturer's warranty standard so if you didn't get an extended warranty from where you bought it if it's less than 2 years old call LG and they will arrange to have it fixed that's what I did. Here's the number 1-888-542-2623. Good luck.

Lg 42px5d

Brought the set to my local TV technician last night, he's going to call me today to inform me what the problem is. He's indicated that it is mor than likely the y-sus board whcih will need replacing, apparently for these HD sets they're not cheap, around $500 - $600.

After having done a bit of research I had looked into sourcing the boards (apprantely some come in a kit form, 3 boards included) direct from the Australian Supplier (Statewide Appliances in Adelaide, SA), however it turns out I was sourcing boards for a different model. Pity as it was only around $100 for the kit.

Will keep you posted!

SCREEN FOR LG 42PX5D 42 in.

I have dealt with Lg in the past regarding screens and they are unable to sell them as a spare as they are so expensive, they are only used in production and a complete new HD TV is cheaper to buy than a screen. for example LG37LP1D £900.00, a replacement screen £1500.00
