You may get this problem if you have BitDefender Internet Security. To fix it:
Open BitDefender, click Settings, set UI to Expert Mode. Click OK.
Select Antivirus, Advanced Settings then under Exclusions click [+] symbol, a browser opens, go to the following; C:\Program Files\Rosetta Stone\Rosetta Stone Version 3 and select the RosettaStoneVersion3 file, click OPEN. Then OK. Sorted.
Sorry missed something out above. After selecting Antivirus, select the Shield Tab(if not already selected), then Advanced Settings.
You guys should try right clicking and running as adm.
also error, i don't understand:(

Go to COMPUTER open C:DRIVE. You should see a Program data or Data file. ( If you don't go to Organize in the upper left corner- go down to folder and search options- go to view- click "show hidden files" in the advanced options folder. Apply and OK). Open Program data/Data file you should see Rosetta Stone folder- open it- you should see a file named tracking.db3. Drag to desktop. Restart computer. Should work now.
I have followed the above steps and I don't know which on did the trick:
1.Take ownership of Rossetta Stone folder from c:\program files\Rosetta Stone
Right click on \Rosetta Stone folder->click security->click advanced->click on owner, click edit, click on your windows account, check the box replace owner and object containers, click ok and apply
2.Deleted the file tracking.db3 from c:\Program Data
3.Right click on RosettaStoneVersion3.exe from C:\Program Files\Rosetta Stone\Rosetta Stone Version 3 and click Properties, compatibility view, then check Run this prohram in compatibility mode for windows Xp sp3 and check the box Run this program as an administrator.
4.I didn't had any av or firewall installed, but I had win defender and win firewall by default and I have turned off windows firewall and disabled windows defender from start->control panel->windows defender->tools options->click on administrator and uncheck the box use this program
5.restarted the pc and worked, home this helps.
It was the part where you changed the permissions for the program folder, if you don't do this the crack you copy in won't stick.

Did what you said, restarted my computer and the problem was gone! Thank you so much!
The link doesn't work, can someone re-post or explain what it shows?
right click on the folder in program files (maybe program files(x86) and click: Security, then click Advanced, Locate your user, then click Change Permissions... Then click your name twice, allow all the little checkboxes you see, then press OK, then Apply in the other window. Then Restart. (that's what he was saying)

I have Windows 7 x64 and BitDefender. Nothing worked until I put the antivirus in Game mode. I added a firewall rule, I disabled the firewall and no result. Even the ownership changes didn't work. So Game Mode solved the problem for me... Ironic
I recommend against deleting or moving the tracking.db3 file, since this will cause Rosetta Stone to lose all of your progress.
After doing some research about this error, I discovered that it seems to be a permission issue with the Rosetta Stone data files. To fix, go to the properties of your C:\ProgramData\Rosetta Stone folder and take ownership of it and all of its contents. You should probably also make sure your username is listed with full read/write privileges, but the most important part is taking ownership of it. (You can look online if you don't know how to do this). That fixed it for me, anyway, so hopefully it'll help others who are still having problems
I found it. just uninstall the program and then use a registry cleaner.clean and fix registry .restart windows. and install rosetta again.that works for me.hope works four u
enjoy!!!
Hello,! I had the same problem using -Bit Defender- i´m using XP and when game mode was turned off, the problem began , so i just set it back on , just in case i add the program folder under the scanner exclusions list, just in case you never know, it work for me , i hope it works for you too :-)
Ohh. almost forgot!! i reistalled the program but didn´t work, you can give it a chance anyway .
Under Windows Vista I changed a properties of the shortcut to run it in Windows XP compatibility mode.
Open program files folder -- > rosetta stone folder ---> right click on rosetta stone exe ---> properties --> compatibility --> check the run exe on windows XP mode && run this program as an admin and work 100%
* Nothing to delete. db3;
* Nothing to add except the firewall or antivirus;
Just reboot your PC after installing the Rosetta Stone and have replaced the original executable by crack !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
my win is 7 64 bit
Hey guys... I've just spend the majority of the day trying to resolve the same errors and you guys: getting the error code 2123 as soon as you started the app. None of the solutions proposed here or anywhere else on the internet worked for me. But i was able to come up with one that worked (for me anyways). I run Win 7 x64.
The way i fixed mine was to uninstall the up-to-date version, and instead installed an older version (3.0xx), ** , then download the update, or install your up-to-date version on top of it.
** i'm not sure if this is important or not, but i did create my user account and installed my language at this time
That, so far, has fixed that problem.
Good luck!
Running Windows 7 and trying to install under administrator side but still get the error code 2123. Tried uninstall and reinstall but no luck. Can see the files on the C drive but still fails on initiallizing the application.
Any ideas?
Thanks
My working solution; go to your antivirus settings (in my case Avast) and select de program folder as an exception. In my PC the error came from a detection from the antivirus program. Hope it helps somebody.
This totally fixed it...I found it on my own but just corraborating Nico's point

simple. if you don't exactly know, or want to find out what opperating system you have, select Windows XP compatibility mode (May have to download a large update, but it will work)
Hi guys i have wrote a complete article to resolve this error 2123 at my site it might help you out Click on the below link.

How to resolve error 2123 in Rosetta Stone Version 3 program
I Have windows 8, and have the same issue, but... i try some fix as the old school, disable your internet connection BEFORE start installation, after finish install DO NOT start program, WAIT until replace the FILES and issue has been resolved.
Whenever I do these 3 steps works:
Although I have not gotten to see which is the only way that works:
1. - Disable virus and put it in game mode
2.-Once and mount the image "virtual" with iso
3.-Click rosseta right click the icon rosseta,-run as, and uncheck where it says Protect my computer and my data against unauthorized program activity.
All this without restarting
All, I got past this problem by simply UNCHECKING the box that says to go ahead and install the language software. This appears at the end of the setup.exe process. I think having Rosetta start the next phase of the upload is not something Windows will allow. Instead, uncheck it and that part of the installation will end with no error. Then go to the Programs menu list in Windows (in circle bottom left) and you will see the Rosetta program. Click on that and will start up again. When I did that it said an update was available which I allowed it to load. Then it went through the installation process again. Let it do that and when you get to that same screen with the checkbox, leave it checked this time. Miracuously it moved on and allowed me to put in the language cd and move forward. (If you get to the sign in sheet where you enter your name etc. do all that and then it leaves you with a screen with no "continue" button. Just close that and the next screen is where you enter the "Activation ID".
Did all that and .. nothing. then, instead of using the short cut from my desktop .. i went to the actual *.exe file in the folders and ran from there, no problems.
