Do I have the correct controller for my Hot Tub? I have a Jacuzzi Lexus L.C. with a Balboa F1089R1A processor. I ordered a topside control panel online and received a Balboa VL701S but nothing is working on my hot tub when the power is turned on. Only a clicking in the circuit board.

That is certainly not the top side control I received. mine has only 6 buttons. 1 for jets 1 for blower 1 for light 1 for mode and 2 temp bottons

If it uses the same serial protocol, it may still work fine. I would call Balboa and tell them what you have. They made the stuff, they should be able to answer this question. 1-714-384-0384

Curios, why did you order another control panel? I need some history, when it worked, how it failed, any other information like if it was moved or rewired for power...etc.

I purchased this hot tub used from a friend who told me that everything was in good working order except the topside control panel. I called and ordered a panel for the model tub that I have and received this controller in the mail. The control panel I received appears to be for a tub with 1 pump and 1 blower. I have 2 pumps and no blower so that is why I am curious if this is the right panel. looking on line I see there are 2 panels with the same number. 1 has 7 buttons and the other has 6 buttons like mine has. I did move the hot tub to my home and had it wired to my breaker correctly.

It appears you have a Circuit board Model 108/9 which is a JP #2600-019. Hard to find compatibility for these. Here is the manual link to a spa with your processor in it.http://www.psposeidon.com/wp-content/upl...

You can see the upper controls in this manual. I did see one site listed a VS701 not a VL701 but I do not know the difference

The circuit board is labeled clearly. Each relay has a silkscreened purpose. See if you can find out which is clicking. Don't get shocked.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Balboa-SERIAL-DE... is the link to a direct replacement for that control board based on the manual.

Balboa hot tub controller keeps switching back to Ecn mode

It sounds like the power surge coming back on damaged the controller. Try disconnecting the mains supply overnight to fully dissipate all voltage in the electronics. It that doesn't work, this is the maker, reach out for support.

You have voltage across the element but no heat....

Disconnect one element connection and do a resistance/continuity test. Or use a clamp to measure running current.

Balboa hot tub.. how to turn up the HEAT / TEMP , no owners manual, and does anyone know where I can get one?

You do not have a Balboa Hot Tub. That is the company that made the control panel for it. Id venture to guess it's either a Hawkeye, Barefoot or Master spa if it came with no owners manual. To turn up the heat simply press the Red "up" arrow on the digital control pad. Check out the link below. It's a quick reference guide to what I'm guessing is your top side control.

No temperature display cant set temperature

Located behind the access panel there is a grey box that is the spa pack. Open that up with the 2 screws on the top of the pack. There is a small glass fuse on the circuit board. One of those fuses is most likely blown. If that is not the culprit you need a new topside control. More than likely it's the fuse.

Marquis Hot Tub, Instrument Panels (Balboa Instruments main and side auxillary) do not display the LED read out. Replaced main control panel twice, replaced 250 W. 3/10 fuse.

The topside controls aren't fused so the fuses wont be the cause.

It can only be either the PCB, the topside controls, or a bad connection at fault. Check that they are plugged in correctly, make sure that the PCB is configured correctly for your topside controls.

It's rare for both the main and auxilary topside controls to fail. You can try plugging in another main topside control without fully installing it... at least you can then return it (ask whether or not return are accepted, I don't personally accept any returns if parts are specially ordered) if it doesn't cure the problem.

Ian.

Need a users manual

Kathy,

I think what you're looking at are the part numbers for the heater and control systems used in some Jacuzzi hot tubs rather than the Jacuzzi model number. I ran into the same issue and discovered through some cross-referencing on the web (jacuzzi parts suppliers) that this is the part number control unit made by Balboa. Odds are they were used in multiple Jacuzzi models.

My suggestion: Look here http://clearcreekspas.com/model_id.html to identify the control panel for your Jacuzzi and then follow the link to the correct manual. Some cover multiple models so you will need to know the electrical requirements of yours (120 V or 240 V?) and then check the layout of each tub shell to determine which model is yours.

I figured out mine is a Jacuzzi Essence Model 350 this way.

Good luck!
