SOURCE: LG microwave oven

It's usually a bad door switch or a broken door switch mount. Once in a while it's due to a board problem. If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info (as well as a text file which helps in diagnosing and repairing door switch problems) at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

SOURCE: Microwave Does Not Heat.

Test the high voltage capacitor, the rectifier diode.or the magnetron.

If it additionally does not spin and no light, then check also the door switch.

The diode and capacitors can br tested. The capacitor must be alloweddischarge before testing, or you risk to get electrocuted, even ifpower is off. Capacitors can get discharged by shorting their twocontacts.
Replace the magnetron if the checks and all of the high voltage component tests are good, but the unit still does not heat.

All locations, and description of this parts can be located using the diagram here: Counter top.

Parts must be tested to find out what is wrong.

Remember that microwaves are potentially dangerous devices if not repaired properly, the job must be done by a competent person.
A microwave energy leakage test must always be performed when the oven is serviced for any reason.

Regarding parts, contact the seller here to purchase parts. (here in UK).

My microwave turntable stopped turning but the microwave still heats up and works, otherwise.

You didn't say what model microwave you have, but most that I have seen have two separate circuits inside. One operates the magnetron (which makes the microwaves) and the other operates the other things like the turntable or the inside light etc.. It is quite possible that you have a problem in that second circuit. This allows the heating without the turning. To fix this type of problem, if indeed that is the case, requires some skillful trouble shooting inside the microwave which I don't recommend your try unless you are a skilled technician, because of dangerous voltages. Go ahead and post the brand and model number and I can be more specific as to what action to take.

My microwave heats, but the surface light and interior light don't light up and the turn table doesn't rotate. Everything else seems to be working fine. What is the best way to trouble shoot the problem?

follow this steps and fix it. God bless you

  • Light bulbIf your microwave light bulb is not working, perhaps it has blown. The first step is to replace the bulb and power on the microwave. If this does not correct the issue, the next step is to check the socket and wiring to verify if that is the problem.
  • Light bulb socket & main control boardIf your microwave light bulb is not working after the installation of a new bulb, check the light socket as well as the wiring to ensure they are properly operating. If these sources are functioning properly, the next step is to check for a faulty control board as a possible root cause to your microwave light bulb malfunction

MY LG microwave oven model no MH6344W does not heat the food .The oven is fine after 1 minute microwaving if i remove the food it is as cold as it was. What would be the reason please explain. I tried...

    Hi,

If the food is not being heated it means the magnetron is not working. The magnetron is the device which generates microwaves which heat the food. It could be the magnetron itself which is faulty or it could be one or 2 other components causing the magnetron not to work. You will have to take your microwave oven to a service center to determine the exact cause & get a repair quotation.

Let me know if you need further assistance.
    Best wishes,
