The idler pulley fits in the slots on the bottom of the cabinet (in front of the motor) with the wheel or glide facing the left side. Place the belt (grooves inward) around the drum. Pull the belt through the middle of the idler pulley from the left side. Once the belt is pulled through the idler pulley, loop it around the motor pulley (this should force the idler pulley to "open up" and add tension).
With the belt and idler pulley in place, it should look like this...

Is there a diagram of how to run the belt on the tensioner, have new belt around drum already. Don't know what it is suppose to look like. Thanks Dave Ball at ([email protected])

Man Im not sure if this info will help you but. On my dryer which is pretty much the old style, standard type dryer and I had to replace the belt and had a little trouble putting it on the tensioner, finally figured it out.. If you take the belt and pinch it together and pull under the belt tensioner and then around the moter shaft that's what you do for the dryer style I have.. HOPE this may HELP!!

How do i fit a new belt to my white knight cl447 wv dryer

Pop the top (spring clips) remove the front - use care with the wires. Find the belt tensioner on the floor of the dryer. Do a complete cleaning of the inside. Put the new belt around the drum get an assistant to help you hold the drum while you thread the belt through the tensioner and place the tensioner in the tensioner holder slots sin the floor. Put the front back on, snap the top back down.

Allow 2 hours for this job.

How to get into the cabinet? I have a Kenmore Dryer that hums but the drum won't turn, maybe belt! Model # 110 62942100 thanks, tom

Hi,

Kenmore dryer belt

  • UNPLUG DRYER
  • remove lint filter
  • remove two screws in lint filter panel securing cabinet lid to filter frame
  • with putty knife or other blunt blade, depress clips ~2inches in from the front corners of the lid to release cabinet lid
  • tilt lid up
  • remove 1 screw from each side 1/3 the way down
  • remove cabinet front and door
  • motor bearings tensioner are all visible

  • lift out drum forwards
  • check support rollers felts and nylon glide bearings for wear
(worn bearing surfaces are the most common cause of belt breakage, and you dont want to do it again next month)
  • make sure tensioner is still installed in cabinet base, sometimes breaking belts pull them out
  • loop belt around drum at prior wear marks
  • reinsert drum
  • pull tensioner to end of travel against spring
  • loop belt around motor pully and tensioner
  • relax tensioner
  • rotate drum by hand to make sure belt wont jump off.
Thanks

Cant figure out how the belt tensoner works to hold the belt tight i have a kenmore 70 series electric dryer

There are 2 slots underneath the motor pulley.
The flat part of the tensioner goues in these slots.
The roller wheel will then be on your left.
With the belt around the drum, run the belt under the wheel and through the tensioner, then over the motor pulley.

Kenmore dryer

It is very much easier to replace the belt from the front, than the back, the cabinet disassembles from the front, and the mechanism remians attached to the rear plate and cabinet floor.
  • pull lint filter out
  • remove 2 screws from under lint filter
  • with putty knife or other blunt blade, release clips at front corners of cabinet top
  • tilt up cabinet top
  • remove 1screw 1/3 way down each side of front of cabinet.
  • lift off cabinet front
  • drum, motor, tensioner, are all exposed

  • lift drum out forward
  • check rollers, drum felts, nylon glide bearings for wear
(worn bearing surfaces are the most common cause of belt breakage and you dont want to do it again next month)
  • reinstall tensioner in slots in cabinet floor, reinstall tensioner spring between tensioner and cabinet floor
(Once the cabinet is open the tensioner mounts are easily visible)
  • loop belt around drum at the wear marks of the prior belt
  • reinstall drum on unworn bearing rollers etc
  • loop belt around motor pulley
  • pull tensioner hard against spring to end of travel
  • loop belt around tensioner
  • relax tensioner
  • spin drum by hand to ensure belt isnt going to jump off
reinstall cabinet in reverse order
~15 MINUTES, but I do 3-4 per day

Fitting the belt to the hoover 5050ed

nope,, but
all dryers are generically the same
remove the front panel and door
pull the drum
loop the belt around the drum, at apporximately the wear marks of the old belt
reinsert the drum
loop the belt around the motor pulley
pull the tensioner pulley hard against the spring to the end of its travel
loop the belt around the tensioner pulley
allow the tensioner to move back under spring pressure to tension the belt
rotate the drum by hand to make sure the belt is aligned and not coing to jump off the pulleys
reinstall front panel & door
26740a0.jpg the tensioner may be on the bottom belt run pusshing up, or the top run pulling down
breaking belts sometimes pull the tensioner out of its mounts, there is only one place that the tensioner will reinstall.

Its a standard whirpool dryer, rebadged as hoover, so the local parts guy has the belts rollers felts and glides as necessary, they are common to all the dryers whirlpool makes.

Replacing drive belt

The belt does NOT figure 8, it does not cross itself at all, friction would wear it out fast
the belt makes a kidney shape around the drum and motor and tensioner pulley, then the tensioner presses against it
de47d73.jpg loop the belt around the drum
loop the belt around the motor
pull the tensioner HARD to the end of its travel, loop the belt over the tensioner
release the tensioner

Zanussi tumble dryer. no.TC7114W

loop the belt around the drum.
slide the belt down the drum directly over the motor pulley
loop the belt around the motor pulley
pull the tensioner pulley hard to the end of its travel against its spring
wrap the belt around the tensioner pulley
release the tensioner so the spring pulls it against the belt
rotate the drum by hand to ensure the belt is aligned and does not pull offf the pulleys
reassemble case
dry clothes
its easier than it looks seeing a broken belt in the bottom of the case.

BELT WON'T TURN THE DRUM

there is a tensioner pulley as well as the drum and motor
It hooks into a slot, usually on the floor of the case, and has a spring that pulls it against the belt to tension the belt.
Broken belts have been known to knock the tensioner out of place, it should be sitting on the floor of the case as should its spring.
There is usually ony one slot for it to sit in, self evident if you know to look for it
loop the belt around the drum.
slide the belt down the drum directly over the motor pulley
loop the belt around the motor pulley
pull the tensioner pulley hard to the end of its travel against its spring
wrap the belt around the tensioner pulley
release the tensioner so the spring pulls it against the belt
rotate the drum by hand to ensure the belt is aligned and does not pull offf the pulleys
reassemble case
dry clothes
its easier than it looks seeing a broken belt in the bottom of the case.
fd5c779.jpg tensioner may be on the bottom run pushing up, or on the top run pulling down
