Maytag Neptune Door Boot Change

I am attempting to change the door boot on our Maytag Washer. I ordered the part and I'll be damned if I am going to pay someone hundreds of dollars to come and put a rubber on my washer. I need step by step instructions in total idiot proof, layman's terms. Help! Thanks!

Remove 2 screws holding door hinge to cabinet and remove door.  Then remove 2 screws opposite these. Grab front panel with thumbs at area of screws you removed and pull outward with thumbs. Panel will pivot forward.  Remove panel from lower clips.  At top of exposed area remove 2 5/16 screws.  Remove brackets under them.
Open dispenser and remove 4 screws.  Careful not to drop in dispenser.  Remove dispenser frame assembly.
You can now raise top of washer to a 90 degree position.
Now back to front exposed area.  Grab boot where it contacts front and peel out of groove.  Also remove two screws holding light assembly and remove cover.  Remove all 5/16 screws holding front assembly and the ones on top area where it is on a bevel.  Remove front assembly by folding up and onto top.
Now we are at the boot.  Remove spring and wire assembly holding boot to drum.  Make note on boot position and spring position.  Remove boot.  Install new boot onto drum.  wrap wire around drum with ends at top.  Now the fun!  Hook spring to on end of wire and using vise-grips,  pull to other end to hook into wire.  It can be done,  honest.
Now just reverse to reassemble.  should be instructions with boot.   Good luck!

I'm about to order a new door boot for our washer. I noticed we had a problem when I saw the spring had rusted and snapped. Does anyone know if the new boot will come with a new spring or do I have to order that separately? Thanks for your help!

I have a Maytag Neptune 1st Generation and the washer door gasket always molds, how to clean and how to prevent molding

The Maytag MAH300AWW was the first generation front load washer. Your MAH5500BWW is a much newer version and has a boot drain and door venting to minimize the mold. Just be sure your drain (bottom center of the boot) is clear. Use a solution of 1/2 cup of Granular Dishwashing Detergant and 1 cup of Chlorine Bleach added directly into the tub. Run the machine through a hot was cycle (with NO clothes inside) every few months and this will reduce or eliminate the mold.

Hi looks my Maytag Neptune needs to have the front boot replaced

It is not too difficult to replace the boot. You have to remove the door (remove the screws that go into the door frame, not the door itself, and tilt the door out). Remove the screws on the opposite side of the door frame and remove the front panel (this will hinge on the bottom). From there, remove the soap dispenser bezel (4 phillips screws) and the two brackets (5/16" nutdriver) that are located in the front, just under the top. Now the top will tilt up. The boot will be pressed into the white plastic boot bezel (tongue and groove style) this needs to be pulled away from the bezel at this point. Now, remove the (4) 5/16" screws that hold the boot bezel in place and put aside. There is a wire ring with a spring that holds the boot to the drum, carefully roll the ring off the boot, it may snap on you so be careful. Pull old boot off and replace with new. Make sure to align the new boot with the indicators on the drum. *****NOTE!!! A bad boot is often an indicator of other part failures, most common of these are the shocks/struts that are under the drum assembly. If these are bad, your new boot will go bad quickly.*******

Maytag washer MAH6500 leak - door boot issue?

there is a drain hole at the very bottom of the sump
about 1/4 in
if you ahve any other holes you will need a new boot
there is no real way to patch them, most patches will not flex enough to stay in place
ive included the part number you can order from sears
22003070
the best way to get one over on sears is to order it
then you cazn either fix it kinda hard but id walk you through it
or when the part arrives shedule service, just tell them its leaking

only when the tech gets there tell them you have a boot
sears hates self diagnostics and you will go to the bottom of the list

Sometimes there is water that fills in my washer after I use it. It does not happen right away but by the next day. I don't know the model but I do know this is an old washer....gold....I have had it for...

Q - My washer seems to keep filling  with water, the water keeps coming in the washer and going out the drain without the washermotor running.
A - This often is a drain hose that is too low or a drain hose that has been pushed too far down inside the stand pipe....the water is actually siphoning out of the washer. Do not "seal" the drain hose to the house plumbing pipe, this will also allow the water to be siphoned out.

Changed boot but still leaks

Are you sure it is leaking from the boot seal? The water could be leaking from the top or front of the washer and running down along the door. Pull the top off and watch the machine while it fills. Use a torch for better viewing.
