The Mac should work right out of the box! You don't have to install anything. The install disks are ONLY if you need to re-install the operating system which is a once in a lifetime event!

Password won't work on Mac laptop

Hi There,
Since you don't say which password doesn't work, I'm going to assume you mean the password needed to logon to the computer itself...
If you have the OS (operating system) install disks that came with the laptop, or a Mac OS install disk, you can start up from the disk by inserting it into the optical drive when the Mac is on; then restart and hold down the "C" key immediately after hearing the chime-sound.
-You'll need to hold the "C" key down until you see a grey screen with the Apple logo in it and a spinning 'pinwheel' below the apple.
Once your Mac starts from the OS installer disk, you'll see the screen for doing a new installation of the operating system.
Click on the arrow at the bottom right corner of the window that comes up.
Then, look at the menu bar at top of the screen and click on the "Utilities" Menu, and choose "Reset Password".
This will open a new window that is pretty self-explanatory as to setting a new password for the various Users that have been created on your Mac.
Hope this helps & good luck!

Apple logo and loading symbol

If you have another MAC computer available, you can create a USB key to solve this problem:

http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/apple-in-the-enterprise/how-to-create-a-bootable-usb-to-install-os-x/

If not, I'm afraid you will have to turn to an authorized apple service center. They will do the repair for you.

How to unlock my apple ibook g4 laptop

You're going to need a bootable disk that came with the machine (or a version of the Mac OS that you know will run on it). You should do a complete custom install, including erasing the original disk.

I think you're going to need Leopard (Mac OS X 10.5) or earlier to get started. You can look for a disk on the internet, or see if you can get one from Apple (try the support forums at apple.com). A G4 is a PowerPC-based machine and isn't supported by the recent OS X versions, which require an Intel-based processor.

When you power on the (apple) or (mac os x) iBook model#A1005 ( NTBOE004010) a screen comes on and ask for username and password. i purchased this computer ibook second hand so how do i proceed from here...

Hi there,
Congratulations on your new computer! What you need to do is reinstall the operating system, after wiping the computer:
  1. Turn the Mac on and insert the restoration disk that came with it (If you don't have one then you'll need to get one, try ebay or amazon, or an Apple store).
  2. Turn the Mac off with the disk still in
  3. Re-boot it, holding down the C key. This will boot up from the CD, and hopefully you'll be able to re-install Mac OS X, which will give you a working, clean machine.
When you get to step 3, you should have a menu bar at the top. Select Utilities -> Disk Utility. Select the computer's hard drive, and 'Erase'. Call the new partition whatever you like, but make sure it uses Mac OS Journaled Extended file system. Follow the instructions and you'll have a machine like new!
If you don't already have an install disk, watch out - you can only install Mac OS up to Mac OS 10.5 on your iBook. Don't buy a 10.6 (Snow leopard) disk, as it won't install!
Hope that helped, good luck!

Please boot the system with a Mac OS X installation Media .Insert the installation media and power on the system and immediately press ' C ' key to boot it from Mac OS X installation disk. After few seconds the language selection option will appear .Click continue and then in the next screen see on top you will find "UTILITY" then click "DISK UTILITY" .Select the boot drive partition and try to repair the file permissions mentioned left hand side .If the permission repaired successfully then restart the system and check if it boots. If still you face the same issue then reboot the system with installation media again and repartition the harddrive .Install the os Freshly. The issue will get solved

Apple spinning, won't start

1. Let it spin for a while and see if it eventually gets to the desktop. Sometimes this will work.
2. Insert your Mac OS install disk, restart your computer (if you need to force it to quit first, push and hold the power button until it shuts off). Then when you restart, as soon as you hear the famous mac chime, press and hold the C key until the Mac OS disk starts to load the system on the disk. Once it reaches the install window, don't launch the install, but go to the top menu bar and locate the Disk Utilities App and launch it. Run a Verify, Repair and also a Repair Permissions. Once done, shut down and restart without holding the C key. You should be good to go.
These powerbook 15" models are awesome... keep it hummin!

Apple iBooke Blueberry power problem

It is a system problem. There is only really one way to fix this.

You'll need to start your mac up from the original OS install disk.

You can then use the disk utility to see if the OS can be fixed or you might need to re-install the OS. Once you have started up from the install disk you might be able to see your drive. At this stage if you have not already done so you should back up those important files.
