Your screen settings are not optimized for that monitor, most Gateways (to h*&%) come with a drivers disks for the monitors put that in and run setup for the monitor.

Sounds like your menu button on the monitor is stuck in the pushed in position. See if that is the problem and use a needle, q-tip with alcohol to pop it back out.
davea47, Your monitor's internal "switchmode-power-supply" is probably having a problem. You may need to do some electrolytic filter capacitor replacement!!! Problem not new one!! You or qualified lcd monitor technician will need to open unit for inspection/evaluation of power supply board. Do some reading in the fixya profiles of "budmrtn" "buddymc" "12fixlouie" (me) and follow links you find there. After investigating your unit let us tech's here at fixya know what you will do to repair unit. 12fixlouie
csofhaus, First place (thing) I would look is at the monitor's "switch-mode-power-supply!!! When Very Strange things start to occur with LCD back-lit monitors that's the FIRST place I would look for a problem.

It is possible that menu button on the monitor is stuck. I suggest to call your computer manufacturer where you purchased the monitor, check for the warranty and request for a replacement.
