If the iron doesn't heat, make sure 1) power is on to the outlet, 2) check the electrical cord and 3) check the thermostat and replace if necessary. Use the VOM.

Hotpoint rvm1625sj01 no power

Hello

Plug the microwave into the outlet if the microwave won't power up. Make sure the plugs on the microwave match the type of outlet. A four-pronged outlet can only be used with a four-pronged plug. Same with three-pronged outlets---they only work with three-pronged plugs.

Inspect the plug. Make sure it hasn't been cut or tampered with. Four-pronged plugs can't be cut down to fit a three-pronged outlet. Three-pronged plugs mustn't be forced into four-pronged outlets. A three-pronged plug mustn't be used in a two-pronged outlet, either.

Replace blown fuses, or if there's a circuit breaker, check it for tripped breakers. Sometimes the trip won't be obvious, so cycle the circuit breakers. Turn them all the way off and then back on again.

Plug another appliance in the outlet. You will find this easier with three-pronged appliances. Simply plug a toaster, or other appliance into the microwave's outlet, and see if it works. If it works, you know the problem is with the microwave, not the power circuit. Have the microwave serviced or replace it. If the toaster or other appliance doesn't turn on, you know the problem is with the circuit.

All of a sudden the MP560 won't turn on. The outlet is working but the printer doesn't respond to the ON button. I've checked the power cord it seems to be ok, the cord hasn't moved or been...

This may be a longshot, but many electronic devices like TVs, dryers with electronic computerized controls, entertainment systems like the Wii, and other devices sometimes get "confused" and won't turn on, turn off, or otherwise work properly, perhaps due to a small power surge in your AC line.

I've found that one of the first things to try when it appears to be a failure of the electronics and not a mechanical issue is to unplug the device at the wall (to make sure that any power adapter is also unplugged) and wait about 10 minutes for any residual electric charge to dissipate. Then plug the device back in and give it a try. This has worked with a television, a Wii console, an electric clothes dryer, and some other devices that I thought had died for good. This may explain why sometimes a device is taken to a repair shop and it works fine.

There are, of course, other reasons that the unit won't turn on, but I would try this first before looking for other reasons for the problem.

My Belkin F5D8236-4 v3 Router won't turn on. We had a storm last night and the power went out but the router won't turn on. I have tried to plug it into different outlets to see if that would work...

Try resetting the router. There should be a little hole somewhere on it with a button inside that you can press with a paperclip. Try holding that button down while you unplug then plug the router in while holding it (if possible). If that doesn't work, I'd suspect the storm might've damaged the router somehow. Was it plugged into a surge protector, and/or have you noticed any other issues with anything else that was turned on at the time?

My fridgedaire window unit A/C and heat won't come on. I had replaced an outside light fixture a couple of weeks ago and had turned off the circuit breaker that affected this unit too. Now the unit...

Plug a light into the outlet used for the A/C, if the light does not come on when reset then the circuit breaker that provided the power to the outlet need to be reset or replaced.
