* just install the software and RUN it.
* scan drivers
* then install (your desire driver)

in order press

* Entering the simulation mode

1) #/P key (program) ON → Asterisk (*) key ON → CLEAR key ON →
Asterisk (*) key ON → Ready for input of a main code of simulation
Simply # * C * and the machine will enter simulation mode.

Then enter the number 16, which is U2 code correction, follow what the screen says, Normally just press start and the machine will reset.
U2 codes are software glitches. A U2 40 is a CRUM fault which is a drum or toner chip problem.
Sim 16 almost always clears them.

From your keys press in order. # * C * . That should enter you into simulation mode. Then enter the number 16. Which is clear U2 faults and execute the function.
U2 is generally a software glitch which that sim 16 will clear.

U2 is an EEPROM error. The software isnt loading correctly.

2 things to try.

1. Press P * C * or # * C *. However your machine it labeled. That will enter diagnostics. You then want to enter 16, then press enter and start. That is the simulation fault clearance for a U2. If that does not work then I would suggest removing the back cover and remove and reseating the memory chips.
After you remove and reinsert the chips,do that simulation 16 again.

well I tell you what it seems like the only supported operating systems are windows 95 and 98 so here is a link you can also download the manual for it.

As you can see there are many U2 error codes. Needless to say, find your code and the replace the bad part. The battery is on the main board. The EPROM is on the main board.
If you find your code, replace the part and error still remains -- replace main board.

Visit the Australian part of the Samsung website (http://www.samsung.com) and go to the download centre. Select the option to download the firmware for the Samsung YP-U2. It will be version V2.211.
The download will be a zipped folder. Unzip the folder on your PC and run the setup program. This will install the Samsung YP-U2 software on your PC. Connect the player directly to a USB port on your PC and start the YP-U2 program. Use a paper clip to press the reset button on the YP-U2 whilst at the same time pressing the PLAY button. Hold the reset and play button like this for ten seconds. Once your PC picks up the player it should automatically download the drivers. Release the reset button and follow the instructions on your PC screen to install the firmware. The process will delete all the files currently on your MP3 player but at least you will be able to get it working again. If you fail to get the download at the Samsung website, send an email to [email protected] and I will send you the zipped folder (almost 5MB).
