The supplied conversion software makes .mtv files. My 2gb coby won't accept the files as Windows claims the player doesn't support the format. This seems a little dumb being as the software came with the unit. Every time i attempt to copy the .mtv file to the unit Windows heads me off with a "this player does not support this format" window that i have to cancel out of.

This is it you will have vids in your mp3 after u read this just follow the directions and you will do fine.
1.drag your vids into your mp3 2.next use the vid converter and convert it to the same folder in your mp3 (movie) for the input and output.  3.after the converting end then you take the mp3 out of the computer on you got your vids

Just put the video files on the player, then you turn on the player, go to movie. it says no file but if you push the left arrow, then go down to MPTMEDIA, press the play button, it should be there. If it says NEW FOLDER, go in to that folder. I dont know if this works for the 2 gig but it workes for my 1 gig. I found my video files by accident. When converting put the output on 160x128.

You DON'T use wmp or windows media. You use the disk it comes with, because it make the file a .mtv. (i dont know what that is). Then you cut and paste it on the mp3 player, and follow the instuctions i posted

It will create a file windows dont reconize. just take that file and put it on the player and it will reconize it.

Cant play video

1. Turn on the MP3 player, go to Settings/Setup - System - Change USB mode to MSC
2. Connect the MP3 player to the computer
3. The MP3 player will show up as a Removable Disk drive under 'My Computer'
4. Double click on it, it will load Coby Media Manager, follow prompts to install
5. Click the 'Movie' tab at the left hand side of Coby Media Manager, the software will scan your computer for video files.
6. Once your video shows, right click the video, and click 'Sync', this will add the video file to your MP705 with the correct format.

If you need the Coby Media Manager:

I have a coby mp3 player, model MP605-2G and cant figure our how to get pictures and videos on it. Had no problems getting music on it.

If the device shows up in my computer as "removable disk F:\" or similar you should be able to drag-and-drop any files you want to it. If this device plays video and pictures as well as music, you will most likely have to use the included software (which will probably transcode video to a compatible format).

Video trouble

Maybe? Videos that play on your PC may not be supported on your device. If this is so your device will either say file not recognized or unsupported file, or just not play.Even if it supports AVI files they may not play due to unsupported size, bit rate, codex.Did the player come with a file converter? try converting a small file and try to load it,play it.Good Luck

Cant figure how to put movies on mp3 player and watch them

Hi...

If you want to put movie in your mp3. be sure that you know what is the file type. For example the file type of movie in your mp3 is AVI, so you need yo convert your movie to AVI format, because if it is not an AVI,it wont play because they are not in the same format required

I always get a "file not supported" error.

You can download "super" from afterdawn, it is an all-in-one video converter, I think it can help you convert the video files to proper format for your player.

Philips 2GB Go Gear wont upload vidoe

You have to use the Philips (Arcsoft) Media Converter to convert/transfer videos. If the converter is not recognizing a specific video type - FLV, for instance - download a free program called Riva FLV Encoder and convert the videos to AVI format first. Then the Philips Media Converter will recognize them.

The Philips Media Converter is not capable of converting an entire DVD - you will have to acquire video editing software, and then break up the DVD files into 15-minute chunks, and then convert each chunk.

If you are getting a codec error, do a google search for free video codecs - they are out there. Windows Codec Pack and downloading the latest version of quicktime will give you most of these needed codecs.

This player is not capable of playing copyright-protected videos - so don't even bother with them.

Additional information is available both from Philips website and from Arcsoft's website.

Coby mp610 2g mtv unknown format

Hey try to get the video file you are converting to .mtv to convert to .mov first.I had the same problems until I tried it that way.Someone else somewhere says mpg is a good format that the converter will read well and convert properly.I never tried it though. However I find that .avi files will give you problems. This is because .avi is a container not a format.

Also remember Youtube videos download as flv files and if you use MediaCoder like I do,to convert from flv to .avi you will have problems because the actual format will be Xvid and the container .avi.

fFor the sys err problem..visit the Coby USA website ...there is a firmware fix there. The actual link is on this site in another Coby mp 610 question.

I hope this works...let us know
