I think it could be a ventilation problem and especially since the unit is new the fact that you have to leave the door open to get it keep running indicates that it needs more air be careful this is a gas and give out carbon monoxide which can kill you
switch in doorlatch going bad, most common drivers door. soak with penatrating oil (dont be skimpy) , open and close door several times firmly. sometimes this works otherwise doorswitch will have to be replaced
How old is the oven? Did this problem just start? If this is an older oven, and it started having this problem recently, it sounds like the door is bent slightly. Enough to keep the light on. Anyone put weight on the open door, (or as I saw once, someone trip and land on an open dishwasher door, which didn't shut properly afterwards) You can get a piece of paper, put it at the top corner of the door opening, try pulling it out. Try this all around the opening, you should be able to tell where it doesn't close properly. U might be able to 'tweek' it, by trying to bend it to close tighter at the largest gap, BUT this could make it worse, or if it has a glass panel, u might break it. So, tweek at your own risk. countrycurt0
