Hi jadeja_mp

From a run box (click Start > type run in start search) type the following command:

msiexec /unregister

Press enter then open a new run box and type:

msiexec /register

Press enter

Try installing the printer software again. Does this help?

  • moralt May 03, 2009

Click Start > Run and type

    services.msc

    press enter

Make sure that the following services are started and their startup type is set to automatic

    Windows Management Instrumentation
    Remote Procedure Call (RPC)

If they are started then stop and restart them. You may be asked to reboot if so then select Reboot now.

Can you install the software now?

Uninstall any HP imaging software in from Programs and Features.

Download Ccleaner and run it, do a disk clean and check the registry. Let it fix any registry errors it finds.

Now click Start > Command Prompt. (right-click command prompt and select 'Run as administrator)

From the command prompt type the following

    msiexec /unregister

    press enter

    msiexec /regserver

    press enter

    regsvr32 c:\windows\sysem32\atl.dll

    Install the printer software again.

Error message 2753 MSI.dot4wrp message when trying to install HP Photosmart c4480

I had the same problem. I tried to install my new HP Photosmart 8550 printer onto my HP desktop, I am running on Vista 64 bit. Kept getting fatal error MSI.dot4wrp40 over and over again. Upset that my Windows installer was corrupted. I search the internet for this error and realized that this only comes up with NEW HP Printers and scanners. I went to Epson's website and downloaded a driver for one of their photo printers and downloaded the driver for the Epson Stylus Photo1400 Vista 64 bit driver, and guess what it installed I went and bought this printer and I am up and running again. Sorry HP I am jumping ship. The week before I tired to install this HP printer, I installed Print Shop Pro Publisher 23, Blackberry desktop, and Canon digital utilities which in fact all use Window Installer. All installed with no problem, and they are all working. I believe this error message has to be a conflict between HP and Microsoft's 64 bit OS only.... Google THIS ERROR and you will notice only HP comes up.

Error 2753 HP3050

If it is related to the infamous Fatal Error, MSI.dot4msi, code 2753 of HP installations, then it is not a compatibility issue, but an installation problem.
The HP un-install does not clean its previous installations well, causing some of the dll-s to be locked by Windows, thus disabling install of the new software.
What you need to do is manually delete any trace for HP previous installs from your PC.
Search for HPz*.*, HPw*.*, HPq*.* files, and delete them. Those files that you cannot delete - rename them and delete in safe mode.
Also, search the registry for any HPAIO entries - delete all of them.
Then, reset your PC, and install the new software.

It worked for me (and this is the only thing that worked...)

Good luck

Fatal Error while install software for HP C8180 printer, Vistax64

Normal 0 Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

When installing a drive for HP Photosmart 7250 get Fatal Error

it may not be due to the windows installer, all drivers for vista 64 bit must be approved and signed by microsoft or they will not install, this is not true for windows vista 32 bit however.
