Dvd says cannot record copy protected movie how to fix ?

Depends what you are trying to record? Some TV stations have protection built in so you cannot record. If you are trying to copy a video from VHS to DVD and it's a commercial movie etc then it won't.
You can get a "box" that will get rid of copy protection signals, but only from outside the unit sources. Internal dub to dub protected sources cannot be copied.

It keeps saying card protected everytime I try to record. I downloaded my videos on my computer and tried to earase the card and it keeps saying card protected.

Look at your memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

Dvd recorder has copy protected message

Hi,

the tapes that you can,t copy are protected, manufacturers used to put a high pitched frequency on the tapes themselves, which would in theory cause a scrambled frequency. the only suggestion i have for you, is to play the tape onto a television, and use a camcorder to record the image from tv to camcorder, then camcorder to pc, and use some good editing software to create the dvd.
alternatively, you could try using a second dvd player, and use your recorder as the second device.
The final but more expensive option, is to look for a way to input the recorder, direct to PC. which you would use picture out, to graphics card input, and the red and white ( Audio ) for the stereo Sound output. does your player or tv have An spdif connection or similar, you may be able to output to camera, rather than to dvd.
Where theres a will, theres a way, but these are a few options.

****Please note:- this information is supplied only as you have the original Movies***

Bear in mind, it is illegal to copy protected content. However as you own the originals, this information is provided to enable you, to backup your Purchased Content.

Thankyou for using fixya.

Screen says cant record copy protected movie

Is this a new problem or has it always been like this? The unit will throw that error message if there's a copy protection flag on the broadcast source.

To make matters worse, there are three flags a broadcaster can set. Copy Always, Copy Once, and Copy Never.

Copy Always and Copy Never are pretty self-explanatory but the Copy Once flag with this unit only works with certain media, namely DVD-RAM and DVD-RW in VR mode with CPRM (Content Protection for Recordable Media.

Copy Always flag should work with all media. I don't know of any easy way to figure out which broadcasts have which flag but try changing your media and recording mode first.

P.S. You may also want to reset to factory default settings by pressing FF and RW together on the player. Also make sure you're running the latest firmware.

Good Luck!
