If this is a new board and Altidude chip with power on set dip switch 1 and 2 to on. Then press and hold adjust button until on board blinks fast then and you will see dashes on LCD display. Set dip switches 1 and 2 back to off. Turn on remote unit and you should see 100F. With any luck you are good to go.

The 82 error code means that the unit does not know what gas type is supplying the unit. The remedy is to program the PCB for proper gas type.

Tankless water heater model # RTGL74PVN is blinking 38 what does this mean

Copy following link for general troubleshoot and error codes:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Troubleshoot-Rheem-Tankless-water-heater.html

Error code 36 does not show in any resource, including 2008 service manual, or 2012 product manual.
Check that remote control display is illustrating the correct number.
For example there is error code 35.

Error c4-15 what does that mean

Before calling service technician, copy following link for troubleshoot resources:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Troubleshoot-Rheem-Tankless-water-heater.html

C4 can range from failed PC Board to lime build-up inside heat exchanger
Error 15 is 'heat exchanger is too hot', clogged heat exchanger, restriction in cold water inlet, temperature set point too high.
If you recently changed temperature setting, then that might be cause.
Tankless require monthy-to-yearly maintenance to avoid common error codes.
Delime tankless and clean water filter, keep temperature low.
Never install tankless water heater is best way to avoid complications of expensive water heater that is maintenance heavy, hard to diagnose, expensive to fix, etc.
Never expose tankless to more than 11 grains hard water.

Error Im getting is C8 82

Before calling service tech, copy following link for Rheem-Paloma troubleshoot resources:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Troubleshoot-Rheem-Tankless-water-heater.html
C8 is usually the PC board, or could be failed gas solenoid valve.
82 is gas-type-data-failure = program PCB for proper gas type, or proper altitude above sea level.

If this is new installation, Rheem-paloma might tell you to contact the installer.
If this is older tankless that worked before, then things point to failed PC board. Rheem-paloma may send you new PCB for free if unit still under warranty period for defect parts.

Rheem does not post service manuals, but will send instructions.
Hopefully the success rate for replacing your main PC control board will have better outcome than expected when replacing motherboard on your computer.
Perform regular maintenance to avoid some common error codes.

Why is the controller UMC-117 keeps blinking c8?

C-8 error codes could mean anything from the fan not starting, a bad control board, or a blown capacitor. Best bet would be to call Rheem customer service and they'll ship part or suggest licensed contractor to troubleshoot and replace what's necessary.

Open following link to view fixya questions on 1 model of Rheem tankless
Some older questions have information that is useful, and varied
http://www.fixya.com/tags/rtg_74pvn

Open typical manual to review required regular maintenance for tankless on page 29
The word maintenance is used throughout manual, indicating that tankless are a yearly budget nuisance
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/Rheem-RTG74IndoorOutdoor_owners.pdf

All costs are money.
You can also add simple tank-type water heater that can be turned on when tankless is on the blink.

No hot water from tankless water heater. Bliniking Readout

http://www.rheemtankless.com/content/tankless/rheem/help.shtml

This is there website.Above.
Use the live chat to ask them, the code you listed does not seem to correspond to there code list, the only code that does is code 76,
which is a problem with the remote control not talking to the unit.
So your best bet is to tell them the error.
