Thanks Guest with Best Solultion! OMG! I have had my machine printing blank for over a month now and reading stuff and trying to find a solution. Until finally today I found this page. I read your solution and hit the front like u said for several times and nothing. Finally, after the third try WALA...IT WORKED!!! Thanks again. If anyone has this same problem try this because it really works! Eventhough this is such a strange problem for such an expensive machine.
The laser shutter stays closed, it is very common problem, bent the lift arm on the shutter so it will slide easy.
My last comment was directed at the layman service tech, for the layman copier user: there is a long (about 1/2" x 5") rectangular 'window inside the copier, take the cartridge out, look at the metal plate just above the cartridge, the shutter in this window doesn't open when the door is closed. with a flat screw driver you should be able to swing this shutter up, if the shutter stays closed during copying the copy will be blank. Good luck.

I tried something else that worked -- when the open-palm smacks did not work for me. I slid out the paper tray (on the front of the machine), and slammed it back into the machine - and IT WORKED!!!

After 3 hard open palm hits did not solve the problem, I performed the following steps & my copier is working perefectly.
1. Remove paper tray.
2. Using a medium size flashligh, reach inside the copier (where paper tray normally resides). Using the medium sized (8" x 2") flashlight, I tapped upward in 6 different places. After my 6th tap, I heard a sound inside the copier of plastic hitting plastic. (ie a plastic cover falling a few inches and strking another plastic surface.) Now my copier is making great copies again.
I've tried everything before for months... unplugging, new cartridges, servicing, etc. I've always avoided jarring an electronic item, but hitting the front fixed it! A couple of open-palmed smacks above the paper drawer, and it printed this very page. Apparently, sometimes the cover over the laser sticks shut after replacing the print cartridge, or removing a paper jam. Sounds crazy, but smack it!
Wow, just received a call from my uncle saying his copier wasn;t working (MF6550). So tried replacing the toner, the thing was still spitting out blanks. Did some googling and found this thread.
I smashed above the paper tray and sure enough it worked!! lol just awesome.
WILD stuff! This solution works! It seemed to have a mind of its own and was throwing out copies left and right and had to be unplugged...then started printing blanks..just wondering if the problems were related!?
I know this sounds rediculous but i was having the same problem - wouldn't print, new toner everything- so I just hit the front of my machine like everyone else and BAM it works perfect now thanks every one for the help!
Unbelievable but after reading some of the recommendations.....I thought I had little to lose... whacked it twice and lo and behold, it worked.

I don't know but I hit it a couple of times as well and it worked. I had changed the toner first though and it was still printing blanks. It was also recieving blank faxes.

Was printing with no problem.
Attempted to print some labels.
Started pressing buttons on panel.
Finally got the labels fed and nothing printed.
Now attempting to copy or print anything and nothing.
Don't think it's the toner. There were no messages indicating that before or after the problem.
NO Print Blank pages followed procedure to whack the printer above the paper drawer this fixed my problem Nice Job in design Canon!!! Next time buy a HP
