Your compressor will not build pressure if there is a leak or the cylinder/packing is worn. Easy tests. Use soapy water on all fittings including drain valve while compressor is running. If no leaks, remove covers and secure motor to tank. Run compressor using soapy water on all fittings and repair as needed. If no leaks are found, unplug compressor and turn belt by hand untill piston is full top of stroke and examine cylinder with flashlight for scratches. If you see scratches close to the top of the cylinder, replace cylinder and ring to restore pressure. If cylinder looks smooth most likely valve plate in head has broken reed valves. Parts are available at www.toolpartsdirect.com or your local Dewalt service center. Good luck with your repair and post again if you have other question.
If the noise is coming from the walking belt this could be due to sand or grit getting under it. These belts are big electro-magnetic generators. The attract sand and grit to them. Usually it will make a high pitched sound when there is sand under the belt, especially if there is a mylar or plastic sheet under it. If this is the case the sheet can easily be replaced.
If you can stop the belt. You need to be aware that the drive belt can also cause this problem so I suggest that you remove the motor shroud and when you are adjusting whether the front roller is moving and the running belt has stopped (adjust back rollers) or the roller has stopped and motor is rotating ( adjust Drive Belt)
Most likely it is the Drive belt from the motor to the front roller, remove the motor hood, get it going at 3.0 mph and hold on to the rails, then put your foot forward and down pretty hard and see if it slips on the motor pulley, if so it's time for a new drive belt or an adjustment to it.
E022 is a transfer belt rotation error, if it is happening every now and again it is a sure sign that it is on the way out. Try cleaning the belt & sensor, it may just be waste toner blocking the infra red sensor or preventing it from reflecting from the silver timing mark on the belt.
Service Request/Error Code E022 is a malfunction of the transfer belt in its rotation. You can open the front cover and visually check. Pls try to remove the belt. There would be a small silver square on the edge, you can try cleaning this. If the cleaning works, well and good, if not, said belt must be replaced. Worst case scenario is a failed PWB-A Assembly (rarely).
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
