Our DC41 is impossible to push on carpet. Is there an adjustment to do? Almost like there is too much suction.

See if the following information can help.

CARPETS OR HARD FLOORS

• The brush bar will always default to 'ON' (spinning) each time you switch the

appliance 'ON' and recline it for cleaning.

• The brush bar will not rotate when the appliance is upright.

• To switch the brush bar 'OFF' (e.g. for delicate rugs and hard floors):

- switch the appliance 'ON'

- recline the appliance

- press the brush bar 'ON/OFF' button - the brush bar will stop spinning.

• The brush bar will automatically stop if it becomes obstructed. See 'Brush bar -

clearing obstructions'.

• Before vacuuming your flooring, rugs and carpets, check the manufacturer's

recommended cleaning instructions.

• Some carpets may fuzz if a rotating brush bar is used when vacuuming. If this

happens, we recommend vacuuming in 'hard floor' mode and consulting with

the flooring manufacturer.

• The brush bar on the appliance may damage some carpet types. If you are
unsure, turn 'OFF' the brush bar.

Why are the brushes not spinning?

Hi Liz, if your brushes are still in good shape and do not need replacing then I would see if something else isn't broken or busted. You can always check for an obstruction in the brushes or remove the brush assembly & then reseat the brush assembly. Before doing so you should remove both Tanks from your Hoover. Then there are two buttons on top of the Nozzle Assembly that holds the brushes. You will need to release these two buttons on top, then tilt the handle of the unit backwards and this should let the brush assemble fall out of place. Inspect the brush assembly for any obstruction and even check to see if all the brushes still spin okay. If all looks good then align the post on top of the brush assembly with the hole on the bottom of the nozzle assembly and then snap the brush assembly back into place. I know this might sound crazy but did you first check to make sure that you did not have the switch set to "Wet\Dry Pickup." This will stop the brushes from turning as the switch needs to be in the other position to turn.

Riccar 8995 no suction

If it's been over a year since you've replaced the belt that is the first place to start. Stretch belts lose elasticity and will still turn the brush roll but when the brush roll is lowered to the carpet it may not turn fast enough to pick up properly. If you have good suction at the end of the hose check to make sure there is not an obstruction in the tube where the hose goes into the bottom of the vacuum to the brush roll. Make sure your filters are replaced at least once per year and the bag is not full or has a lot of fine powder dust in it which can clog the bag.

My dyson dc17 turn on but doesn't turn

Hi there,
I am sorry to hear you are having difficulty with your DC17. If the brush bar is not spinning it may be obstructed.
Please visit http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=956&product=DC17-ANIMAL for step by step instructions on how to inspect your brush bar and clear any obstructions that may be present.
Once you have carried out these steps you may need to reset your brush bar. To do this please plug your machine in, recline it as if you are preparing to vacuum a carpeted surface, turn your machine on and if the brush bar is not spinning push the silver button next to your power button one time. This should reset the brush and it should begin spinning immediately.
If you are still having difficulty with your machine please contact the Dyson US Helpline at 1-866-693-9766 or the Dyson UK Helpline at 0800 298 0298 so we can provide further assistance.
Best wishes,
Jessica

It doesn't seem to have much power in picking up what can I do

Top of Form

Take the sole plate off and check for blockage and check and make sure the brush is turning freely I suspect the brush is clogged and the soleplate is obstructed. Check the hose for any obstructions as well.

Brushes not turning

If your brushes are rotated by a black rubber belt, chances are that they belt has stretched out or has been worn and you need to replace that belt, also , check and remove any black rubber residue from the brushes and where the belt loops around. Also check for obstructions thru the hoses restricting air flow.

Riccar model rad.7 upright (radiance). roller brush won't turn and red roller brush indicator is on. roller will turn easily by hand and belt is in place. how do i fix this?

As you already know, the red brush indicator light indicates that the brush roll has stopped turning, usually because an object has become stuck in the brush roll. When that happens you should turn the machine off (unplug it also for safety), remove the obstruction and turn the vac back on. That should have cleared the light and allowed your brush to turn again.
Occasionally, you will get debris in the brush roll end caps and the brush roll will spin slower making the sensor think there is an obstruction. You can remove the brush roll, pop the end caps off and clean out any debris to see if that helps.
If none of the above worked it is possible that the brush roll sensor is bad or the circuit board in the machine is bad. You'll need a Riccar service center for that. The good news is your Radiance has a 6 year warranty.

Loud noise

Hi.

Check brush roller for any obstructions. Turn the 3 plastic screws to unlock position & lift off sole plate so you can see the brush roller now check you can rotate it by hand.

If it is difficult to move look for something jamming roller if no signs of obstruction check brush roller bearings. If roller bearings are siezed new roller will fix this.

If you cant find any problems with the roller then you will require A new clutch unit to be fitted.

This can be done at home but it does involve a lot of stripping machine down far to much to tell you on here so try this site for help. http://dc07.atspace.com/

Dyson DC07 Vaccum - brush will not turn

Hi.

Your Dyson has A clutch unit this engages the brush roller when you pull the handle back to vacuum.

Check the clutch control knob which is at the bottom left side of machine looking from the front.
It should rotate to drive position when handle is pulled back.

If it doesnt turn the knob by hand to drive & try the machine.

If you still have no brush rotation after doing all this then UNPLUG machine from mains supply.
Now lay machine on its side & remove the sole plate, This is the cover over the brush roller.
Turn the 3 plastic screws to unlock postition & lift sole plate off.

Now try to yurn brush roller using your hand. It should turn freely if it is difficult to turn look for any foriegn object obstructing the roller.

If no obstruction found then remove the brush roller from the machine & check the bearings in the ends of the brush roller one or both may be siezed up if they are then new brush roller will solve the problem.

If bearings are good then either the clutch is faulty or the second belt which goes clutch to motor has snapped & will need replacing.

It is difficult to fully explain the clutch removing procedure,
But there are service manuals available for these repairs at this site
