Microwave will not heat, but will turn on. Clock and Timer still work. Turntable turns. Making a loud humming noise and light flickers

This clearly indicates a bad magnetron, "heats food" in most cases it is cheaper to replace the microwave oven than have it repaired, since the magnetron is the heart of the unit.

My JES636WK01 microwave heats up but it makes a loud humming noise. I suspected the Magnetron and disconnected it. The microwave was then operated and the n oiuse was the same. Do you have any ideas

Disconnect the HV transformer leads from the magnetron and the capacitor. Make sure none of the wires are touching the chasis or other parts. If the loud humming sound is still present, it is the High Voltage transformer making the noise. If the noise goes away, it is the High Voltage Capacitor going bad.

*MAKE SURE TO UNPLUG UNIT BEFORE TOUCHING ANY OF THE HIGH VOLTAGE LEADS! ALSO, DISCHARGE THE CAPACITOR BY SHORTING THE TWO SIDES AGAINST EACH OTHER!

Started flashing and making popping noises, but still heated ok. Then stopprdheating and just makes a loud buzzing noise

The magnetron is most likely the problem, it heats the food and is the heart of the of the microwave oven, if it was followed by unusual odor more noticeable when you open the door that would confirm it, but that is not always the case. The cost to repair would exceed the cost of a new one

Does not heat-has a louder noise

most likely you have a bad magnetron on unit... if everything else is working just not heating the magnetron is bad and this is what heats the food... it is located behind the control panel /.....sometimes there is a thermal fuse on the magnetron that can go bad but if it is making a loud noise most likely it is trying to come on but has shorted out....good luck to you./

Everything appears to work. but the food does not heat up

The lack of heat would mean a failure in the magnetron circuit. It is the part that generates microwaves that heats the food. If it is making a loud buzzing noise when you operate the oven, it usually means that the magnetron has failed. It can cost as much as a new oven to repair, so it not worth fixing.

GE JVM1650 Microwave Making Loud Noise

hello Frank. Sorry to tell you that the magnetron is going bad and making that terrible noise. Since the inside of a microwave, even unplugged has up to 2000 residual and deadly volts of electricity I recommend either calling a pro or replacing the unit.
