Good day i have mother board asus p5800-mx the usb port cannot work theirs no 5 volts in the port, pleas help me to resolve my problem thanks.

Ashley,

A) There are two USB headers on the motherboard.
They are rectangular in shape, and Blue in color.

One is to the immediate Right of the 3 white PCI slots.
Has 4 pins across the Top row, and 5 pins across the Bottom row.
May have USB56 printed on the motherboard next to it.

The second one is at the Bottom of the motherboard, below the Intel 82801EB southbridge chip; which is to the left of the CMOS battery.
May have USB78 printed next to it

(Turn motherboard photo 90 degrees to the Left, to be as it sits in your computer case)

EACH USB header supports TWO USB ports.

A Card Reader uses ONE USB header, with it's two cables.

Point?
Front Panel USB ports, are connected to one of those blue USB headers.
This USB header you know to be bad.
If the other USB header is not being used, connect to it.

The front of your computer is the Front Panel.
The USB ports in the Front Panel, should be connected by one common cable, and it ends in a plug on connector.

No? Not feasible?
Then suggest using a USB adapter card, in an open white PCI slot,

Product details indicate it has two internal USB headers.
This way you can connect the Front Panel USB ports to it.

Choose ANY O/S, and then download the manual.

Or, here is the direct link to the motherboard manual (PDF file),

When I go to boot up I get a message saying " USB DEVICE OVER CURRENT STATUS DETECTED CLOSE DOWN IN 15 SECs" is my motherboard now faulty?

Maybe but there are a few things to check before you call the Asus,

Check all of your USB ports and make sure that there is noting connected, stuck, broken, sticking out, sticking in, or falling out.

If you have front and back USB ports that is connected by cables to your motherboard disconnect them.

If issue still occurs then you have a damaged USB port on your motherboard, Call Asus for further instructions.

I have 4 usb poorts on my barebone. two of them

If these are case front/top or other panel ports, verify that the ports are connected correctly.

if ports are configured correctly, remove all usb drivers via device manager. then reinstall them. if the problem still occurs you either have corrupt usb drivers (probably not since 2 ports work) or the USB ports were damaged in installation or because of usage.

sometimes the ports will not clear their settings, try the object you are plugging into the 2 non-workign ones to another port hen try something you never plugged into the 2 non-working. if you still get an error, its a driver or damage issues

ASUS P4SDX USB Ports not recognized as USB2 HS Ports

The message comes up when a USB 2 device is connected to a slower USB 1 or 1.1 port. It is only to advise you that the devise will operate faster on a USB 2 port. If your computer has only USB 1 or 1.1 ports, you will always see the message. You can buy and install a card with USB 2 ports and install it. It will come with the USB 2 drivers. Install the card and the drivers and then connect your USB 2 device to the new hardware and you should not see the message anymore.

Good luck, And let me know ho it works out for you.

Front panel connection

Hi mubarakdream, please open your manual to page 1-6, motherboard layout. Find USB20_5 & USB20_6 page 1-14, at the bottom of the motherboard. You can plug your front USB onto these USB pins. (Careful, front & side case USB's break very easily). It only takes a slight bump to break.
Leave the motherboard jumper set to default for USBPWR_56, page 1-10.
If you need the Asus manual you can download it from this link;
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?modelname=P4BGL-MX&SLanguage=en-us

If you need more information just post back into here.
Good luck mubarakdream!

Front Side USN dows not work in ASUS M2N MX SE

The front side port may be a "low power" USB port, it may be possible to "power" this if there is the capacity to connect a power cable to the front panel USB adapter, or there may be an aux power socket to plug into on the motherboard.

Front side USB port is not working

On some computers the front usb ports are like a usb hub, they don't have enough power to power up a hard drive.
