When the fabric softener dries out it cakes up, the water left over stops the clogging. Leave the dispenser door open a little when not in use to prevent black mold buildup from the moisture.

Compartment 3: Additives (fabric softeners, etc.) The fabric softener should not overflow the grid.
Cleaning the detergent dispenser drawer Remove the dispenser by raising it and pulling it out (see figure below). Wash it under running water; this operation should be

There is a FLAP which acts to prevent backflow into the fabric softener compartment. It is usually synthetic rubber, and covers the end of a tube (from the fabric softener compartment, and is usually cut at an angle. The flap opens to permit the softener to flow out, but apparently is not 'flapping back' to prevent backflow. Best thing is to check that flap, and possibly it is prevented from 'flapping back' by lint or some other bit of fabric/thread/tissue left in a pocket, &tc.
isolate electricity supply, isolate water supply.take the top off the machine.find and locate pipe/hose for fabric softener from soap drawer to drum.remove and check for obstructions.this should solve the problem.
Grasp the drawer firmly, and give it a good tug to pull it out.
Remove all parts, and thoroughly clean, then just line it up with compartment and push it back in.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.
I had the same issue, and ran vinegar through the fabric dispenser with a load of towels. Not only did it solve the 'sour towel' problem I had with that load, it also cleared my fabric softener section. Now, I water down all fabric softner when I use it, which is less frequently!
pop the top cover off the drawer tray and check for buildup obstruction in the holes. then check for valve operation a combo of main cold inlet and bleach valve send water to that compartment.
