Toshiba Transmemory Mini USB 8GB storage space went down from 8 GB to 4 MB when it was pulled out of a macbook pro without using the eject function.
First, download this Toshiba flash drive format tool

and use to format your pen drive again with this software.
SOURCE: Didn't eject and remove USB. Now can't access the Passport HD.
Go to Applications -> Utilities Folder -> Disk Utility.
Pick the media on the left and then go to the Erase tab on the right side of dialog.
Pick MSDOS format and the drive should work on both PCs and Macs now.

Do you have another USB port you can use? Is this connected to a USB hub?

Sounds like the VSafe100 program is corrupt or missing. You can download it from verbatim.
Then make sure when you run the program you set the privacy zone size to 0 MB.
I'll bet right now your privacy zone size is set close to maximum only showing you approximately 3MB of space.
