Has anyone reversed the door swing on this type (or similar) model of Zanussi, it all looks straight-forward until you get to remove the door latch, when it seems you have to remove side panel or inner plastic rim to get at it from behind. (Anyone doing/has done the job will know what I mean) Any tips would be much appreciated! Mo
Hi
just reversed the doors in 15-20 mins. It worked for me. You do need to be a competent DIYer to do this.
If in doubt, do now't. Get in an engineer
Disconnect from mains (obviously)
Remove top using 7mm nut driver/spanner
Remove 2 cross-head screws holding the door - Door will come away from dryer.
Remove 2 cross-head screws holding the white top and bottom blanking plates
pull out the switch blanking plate
Locate the PINK wires connecting the switch/latch mechanism inside the dryer at the top. This will be taped to a blue wire.
Unscrew the 2 smaller cross-head screws holding the latch/switch assembly whilst holding the pink wire to stop the mechanism dropping inside the dryer.
Pull up the latch mechanism and unravel the black tape holding it to the blue wire.
Drop the latch assembly down the lefthand side of the dryer and refit using the 2 small cross-head screws.
Retape to the blue wier and feed the PINK wires through the plastic retainers.
Fit the white blanking plates to the RIGHT handside of the door opening.
Swap the hinges and the switch latch on the door (don't lose the spring !!!, refitting the hinge blanking plates(ease these out with a small flathead screwdriver covered witha bit of insulating tape to avoid damage.)
Fit the door using the 2 cross-head screws you have left
Refit the top.
Connect to the mains and switch on to the sound of £80 you have just saved yourself !!
Electricity kills Be careful
To the user Vince Noir who commented on this - massive THANKS! It was a real wrangle getting the switch (attached to just the x2 pink wires) up and out of the left side and over to the right side but got there in the end.
You'll have to remove a good few things to get the room to be able to move it from one side to the other but it is doable just remember what bolt goes where and don't be too forceful 'snapping' plastic clips in and out.
Next time I get a tumble dryer I'll be gettin one with the switch in the middle!
Note- to anyone reading and confused- the switch is the 'latch' that the door goes into. It's wired in cos it makes the machine stop when the door is opened.
Thanks again.
Also undo the tape (there werex3 different wraps) that holds all the wires together to free the x2 pink ones from the bundle. That way you'll be able to gently hoist up the switch from one side.
I also had to remove the top front 'cross bar' (x2 nuts)and the front dials/controls (x2screws, left side front recessed) to give me room.
Like vince says make sure it's not connected to the mains (duh) and also remove the slide-out water condenser unit first
The latch 'tab' sticks outside-side to the right if putting on the right side of the machine.
Be gentle with the wires and if you aren't confident/gentle/patient call an engineer!
