Your machine needs to be serviced. The reverse assembly is probably starting to seize.

Model 4423 singer stuck in reverse - Singer Sewing Machines

Steps:
1) Reset the stitch and width settings back to the settings before the malfunction began.
2) If it's computerized, try 'rebooting' by turning the machine on and then pulling the plug from the mains.
If the 2 suggestions don't work, you may have a broken gear.
The best thing you can do is call customer rep of Singer and talk to them about your concern.

Singer sewing machine model 2639 will only run in reverse -- button doesn't seem to have any effect

Sounds like your reverse switch is stuck. I would work it up and down or front to back and see if it releases.

My heavy duty Singer sewing machine is stuck in reverse. How do I fix it?

If this machine has a mechanical lever or button it may be internal parts have broken and need to be replaced. this is a common issue with lots of machines. The machine breaks when in reverse and will only sew in reverse. Please have a professional look at the machine and make a repair if necessary.

Model 4423 singer stuck in reverse

Solution: Turn off machine. Turn stitch dial until you hear click on each stitch shown on dial. Set to straight stitch then and set stitch width to 6. try machine again being careful to put light force on the foot pedal so your not going full throttle. This is how I "de-confused" my Singer Heavy Duty 4423 when it got stuck on reverse. Hope this helps!

Just bought a used model singer 6233 need to know where foot pedal plugs in

The Singer 6233 was one of the models that briefly were made using air-powered foot controls. So you aren't looking for a traditional electrical connection. Instead, your pedal cord's female end will connect onto a black male nipple, that sticks out on the right side of the machine (the side with the handwheel). Just push it on until it feels snug.
