The cold control is probably stuck closed. if you have a meter, you could pull the control out to check continuity. if nothing else throw in a thermometer, standard freezer temperature is +5 to -5 degrees F.

Why doesn't freezer get cold enough

If the thermostat is turned up and the freezer still remains at around 10 degrees I would suggest the system coolant has leaked or the compressor is faulty. Check that the door seals are not obstructed or broken, that will stop the freezer getting colder.

FREEZER THERMOSTAT

Sounds like the thermostat is not working. Mechanical and electronic thermostats can go bad and cause the freezer to continue running no matter what setting is set on thermostat. When this happens the only setting that will work is turning the temperature setting to off. What is the model number on your freezer? Sea Breeze

My freezer gets cold on the bottom but does not freeze anything. I never hear the fan come on. I replaced the thermostate but still the same. What part should I try next. I have model FFU14FC4CW1

Hello,

If the compressor comes on the thermostat is good, what you need to check is for power to the fan in the freezer, if power present at fan but it doesn't run the fan motor is bad.

High Temp light will not go off even though the freezer seems to be working. Compressor does not stop running

What makes a compressor to run constant is the thermostat. Bang on it to see if it will turn off. turn the setting to 1. if it still wont shut off replace cold control (aka thermostat)
worry about the light later hope this was helpful

Kenmore 23.1 cf Chest Freezer not cooling below 14F

Make sure everything is working, I.E. compressor, fans. Now I need to know if the freezer shuts off at 14 degrees, or does it continue to run without making temp. If it shuts off, then the first place to look is the thermostat. It may be out of calibration. If it continues to run, then the solution may be as simple as cleaning the condenser coil. or the defrost has malfunctioned somehow. Defrost probleams will cause excess ice on the inside coil. You may need to remove the panels to see how much ice is on it. It sounds like the compressor is good, as it is pretty cold. Just not cold enough. A deep freeze should be at least 0.
