The have to unscrew the screen keeper from the faucet. The screen keeper is a threaded cylinder that extends out of the faucet about 3 mm. You need to use a "strap wrench". You can get a "strap wrench" at Ace, Sears, Walmart, Kmart, or Harbor Freight.

Replace 940-190 aerator

It sounds like either your aerator is clogged, or someone has removed the metal screens to use for the combustion of herbal products. If nothing is missing from the aerator, it is probably clogged with white scale. Simply take a baggie filled with vinegar and place it over the aerator fastening it in place with a rubber band. After a couple of hours, remove and scrub with old toothbrush. If this doesn't work, remove the aerator and replace it. It screws right off.

I have a Jado bathroom faucet that has a restriction in it. Is there a screen that I need to clean?

It will have an aerator on the end of the faucet that has a screen. Sometimes these can be removed by hand carefully unscrewing. Others require an aerator removal tool (cheap). Either way, remove the aerator taking care not to allow it to separate into parts. Once removed, you can then dis-assemble noting the order in which you did so. Clean screens and re-assemble.

The small round metal mesh discs inside the kitchen tap have fallen out & will not stay in when re-inserted. Now the water squirts out at weird angles drenching the kitchen work surfaces. Do I need a...

Hi Jean,

These mesh discs and the part they go into - along with a few other small parts - make up what is called "an aerator".

Most aerators simply screw on threads at the end of your faucet. You can remove it by twisting it. You may need a wrench to loosen it first. Wrap the aerator in thick cloth / towel so that the wrench does not dent or scrape the finish on the aerator body.

Some aerators thread up and inside the faucet - rather than at the end - and need a special wrench to remove

Once removed, you should reassemble the parts and reinstall on the faucet. You may find replacement aerators in Home Depot, Lowe's, etc. if you're missing parts, etc. If changing it out, be sure to bring the old one with you to match.

I hope this helps & good luck!

Just put in a new moen kitchen faucet, why does it have hardly any water pressue?

You might have a clogged aerator screen. Remove the aerator from the faucet and see if the flow is normal. You can rinse the aerator off if it's clogged. It's also possible the stops (shutoff valves) aren't open all the way. Sometimes, if they're old, they don't turn on fully again after you shut them off to put in the new faucet. If you still have low pressure after removing the aerator, you may need to replace the valves.

I don't know if the instructions mentioned it, but it's good practice to remove the aerator and run a faucet to flush the water line after installing it. There's usually a lot of debris that comes through at first. That's usually why you'll have low pressure in a new faucet.

We have a screen inside of the nozzle that we can not get to. We've tried with a tooth pick etc. When there is a water outtage and they turn back on the water it sends a rush of junk and we have to be...

The screen is held in place by a threaded piece on the end of the faucet - collectively the screen along with the threaded piece is called the aerator. The aerator must be unscrewed to remove and clean the screen. A pair of pliers or a pipe wrench may be necessary if the aerator is tightened beyond hand tight or if corroded with mineral deposits.

Have you been able to remove the aerator?

Our kitchen faucet has continued to lose water pressure over the past two weeks to the point that it's down to a trickle. We have removed the faucet to look for any clogging and there is none. what could...

You took off the faucet, but did you take the aerator off the spout? That's a very common trouble, especially if you have hard water with lots of minerals. The aerator screen gets clogged and your water slows to a trickle or is stopped entirely.

The aerator just screws onto or into the faucet, but you might need a wrench to remove it if it hasn't been off in a while. Tape the jaws of the wrench to keep from damaging the chrome unless you plan to replace the aerator. Once it's off the faucet you can take the aerator apart, noting the order of the pieces, and clean off the screen. Reassemble it and put the aerator back on and you should have your water back.

You might also just want to replace the thing; you can find replacements at hardware stores and home improvement places. Just take the old one along to make sure you're getting the right replacement.

My husband installed a new KWC Domo faucet in our kitchen yesterday. When he was finished, he turned the faucet on and got a trickle of water. We are stumped and the instructions are no help.

Take off the aerator from the spout (it just screws on, and should not be so tight you need a wrench) and then run the water. You'll probably find the aerator screen is clogged with debris and you can wash it off. This often happens when you turn the water supply off to connect the new faucet. After you clean off the aerator and screw it back into place your new faucet should work fine.

I have a WH15664 which all of a sudden the gooseneck spout stopped completely. My sprayer works fine. There is absolutley no water comming out of the spout. I can not understand why. can you tell me what...

Try cleaning out the aerator assembly. Not totally familiar with model but the cap end of he gooseneck should unscrew or you may have a screw in insert. If cap unscrews, carefully try to remove the screen and flow reduction insert and clean thoroughly and replace. If cap end does not unscrew look at head where water would normally come out. If notice raised ribs and notches see if you can use a straight edge to un screw the aerator. They make special wrenches but I can remove mine with a butter knife edge. If you get water with aerator removed it's definitely clogged up. I've bet this is the case as sprayer and spout are typically ported from same point in faucet assembly. I had a tennants garden tub faucet that did the same thing and the aerator on the spout was clogged with trash.
