Can someone tell me why my scanner won't scan? It is supposed to scan when you turn it on, it doesn't do that either. Any help would be apreciated. Thanks.

Ok I will advise you to get your car scan to find out and pin point the problem but you can also check the shift cable to see if it's not out of place or to tight and that solenoid that's is strip if it is not working the scanner should pick that up but get some electrical spray and spray the wires then tape it up , but while doing so remove the negative battery terminal and when you finish try it again and see how it works
But try getting it scan first to avoid guessing

scan "enable CR suffix" from your manual. You may also have to scan "enable LF suffix", but try it without first.

Go to an Autozone, Advance, or Oreilys parts store and get a free scan. The clerks will tell you what part or area needs attention. Once the repair is made, they can clear the light with the scanner.

If you want info about how to make the repair, get the Code number and someone can explain it. Some repairs are plug and play, others need tools and mechanical aptitude.

there are several ways to use the scanner: you can have an application directly with scanner drivers implemented. Or you can install the application DataWedge provided by the manufacturer.
The DataWedge application will activate the scanner and the decoded barcode is sent as usual keypad input to the system. The application is running in background, so you can have your favourite simple application in foreground and scan data directly.

these scanners are a little hard to operate i have one of these it took me a while...Ok its because you have it on hold.when you turn your scanner on press your scan button.and your scanner should start scanning...

A quick to fix to most communication problem is to reboot your system. Disconnect the printer from your computer. Reboot your computer. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer. Try to scan again. When scanning using the scanner glass, the scanner light will move across the glass to scan your original document. The printer will then process the image and sends it to your preferred application on your computer.

there are problem in scanner assembly. please clean care fully and properly of your scaner unit.,than its ok.,

I fixed this by Installing the full suite of programmes on the installation CD, specifically Installing the "OCR Isis" programme (or Iris, not sure).

I had the scan-to-pdf option, but then when I reinstalled my system it was no longer available. I tried updating Adobe Acrobat reader to v9.0 and I don't think this fixed it. But at the same time I installed the "extra" programmes of the HP Installation CD, and then the scan-to-PDF feature was back.

So basically, install the COMPLETE set of programmes on the HP installation CD seemed to fix this.

I have a HP Deskjet F2180 printer, but I suspect that the HP software is generic across alot of its product range.

I have the same problem (on XP, Nikon Scan 3.1.2) ... IF I turn the scanner on before the computer (or turn the scanner on and then reboot) then Nikon Scan recognizes it. Can't say I'm happy with the solution, but it works consistently for me.
