I have a 4 yr. old WD-62725 Mitsubishi DLP. Each year I replaced the bulb without problems. This year after replacing the bulb the set still shuts down with no warning. It usually does it in the first few minutes of turning it on. After resetting it 3-4 times it is ok. I had Mitsubishi come out and they replaced the main frame. A day later the picture went out again. I retrieved code 34? Bad bulb. I bought another bulb and it still shuts down within the first few minutes of turning it on. I have reset the bulb timer. I have done a master reset on the whole TV. Could it be faulty ballast? The Technician told me that ballast usually just fail. Any suggestions?

Mitsubishi rear projection DLP keeps turning off and shutting down. The red light then turns on for a while and then turns off. TV can be turned on again and works fine until a random shutdown occurs again. No fault codes are stored. No blink codes. No airflow warning messages. The original thermal sensor was replaced 8-1/2 years ago. Fans are completely clean and running smoothly. I fixed this problem by replacing the 8.5-year-old thermal sensor. The problem is gone. Mitsubishi thermal sensor part number 299P313010A. Manufacturer part number YS11A95B-C6. Do not use the connector plug. Strip the wires, and hard wire and solder the 2 connections. This might also apply to these models: WD-52631, WD-57731, WD-57732, WD-65732, WD-57831, WD-65831, WD-Y57, WD-Y65
the bulb wire go to the ballast board, they do wear out over time but is usually down to capacitors, also depending on how much you watch the tv its about time to change the bulb as they only last a certain amount of time any way. when the tv is reset properly it will count down on time used. from new bulb. its only an estimate, if you are having difficulties seeing the screen the bulb is on its way out.
Buy a new set - not a Mitsubishi DLP. I've repaired 3 sets at the board level.
Many, many bad capacitors on four boards, 12 hours to repair.
If a tech replaces one board, he is only fixing one of 4 bad boards and the set will soon fail again.
Replace the DM capacitor. You can get the V26 DM rpair kit from www.tvrepairworld.com which has the replacement capacitors and the CD with detailed repair instructions.
Hello!
If you haven't replaced the lamp before, I recommend you do it, since it's already 4 years old. If you already replaced it, there is a possibility you might be having a ballast issue. The ballast is the board in charge of sending all the power to the lamp so it can light up.
www.discount-merchant.com/?Click=48427 These part are not that expensive and will get your TV up and running.
If the green front panel LED blinks continuously and the TV never comes on, its an issue with the "DM" board. When these TVs are first plugged in, the green LED should blink for 30 sec. to a minute or so. This is the TV booting up, reading its software. Mitsubishi has been having problems with this circuit for several years. In may cases the only permanent solution is to have the chassis rebuilt by Mitsubishi at considerable cost and inconvience. The chassis may have to be sent back to Mits for this rebuild. Call Mits and ask for help.
I have a 2 year old Mitsubishi Rear Projection 52" model WD-52525. I recently experienced the same problem as you. My TV quit without any warning and the red lamp light came on. I bought a replacement lamp just like you did, did everything you did too, but it still didn't work either. Since it's past the 1 yr warranty (of course), I took it in to an authorized service center for an estimate. They determined the light engine failed and it will cost me $816.35 to repair. I already shelled out $240+ for a lamp, $48 for the repair estimate and I said "hell" no, I'm not going to fix it for another $800+ and bought a new TV. I'm writing a letter to Mitsubishi expressing my deep dissatisfaction (to put it mildly) with this faulty product and will be requesting reimbursement, which I probably won't get. I sincerely hope this is not the same problem your TV has, but if it is be prepared for a costly fix.
Thanks for the info. I will def. try it.
