When the camera is connected correctly, the Connection light is illuminated. The Connection light blinks green when printing from the camera. If the camera is not PictBridge-compatible or is not in PictBridge mode, the Error light flashes.

SOURCE: blinking lights

This exact thing just happened to me. I tried EVERYTHING in the way of troubleshooting - turned printer off/on, plugged/unplugged, opened/closed top, pressed all the buttons on the front right - FINALLY, I took out and put back in both ink cartridges and the light finally went to just green, as it should be AND it printed! Hope this helps!

SOURCE: HP Deskjet 5740 printer both orange lights are blinking and wont print

  • I replaced both carts with HP brand, no joy.
  • I cleaned the cart/printer connections, no joy.
An interesting aside is that if one or the other cart is removed, the appropriate LED goes out and the other blinks. At least some of the sensing circuitry sees the cart.

Anyone have a schematic of the cart/printer electronics?

SOURCE: orange light blinking on check your cartridge keeps coming on

Please go to this link at HP online support and follow the instructions to reseat, and possibly clean your cartridge contacts. Try reseating again if it doesn't work the first time. If you're not successful, you can try to reset the printer by turning it off, uplugging the power cable from the back of the printer, wait a few moments, then reconnect and turn on. Sometimes this will clear the error light.
Don't use the cleaning and alignment tools unnecessarily, as this can compound the buildup of ink around the print head.
If all this fails, you may need to replace the cartridge to get the printer to work...the fault is not always a lack of ink.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

Orange light blinking, cleared paper jam, changed printer cartridge, won't print subsequent documents.

Double check all doors/ rollers for small pieces of paper stuck in the rollers. Sometimes just opening the door in question and closing will reset the paper jam sensors. Paper jams can be smaller than your pinky finger nail. So double check,

Comment if it still isn't working.

Issue: The Power light is on and the Resume light blinks

In this error condition, the following light pattern displays on the product control panel:

•Print Cartridge status light : Off
•Resume light : Blinking (orange)
•Power light : On (green)
Causes

??¦The product is processing a print job, or waiting for the ink to dry on a document.
??¦The product might be out of paper.
??¦The product might have a paper feeding issue or a paper jam.

There are several possible solutions. To work through these suggest you follow the illustrated on-line guide found here.

Toner light

I taped a very small white piece of paper over the sensor eyes on either side of the cavity where the cartridge fit. I read that coloring in the actual "windows" that are on either side of cartridge also may help so I did that too.

So open the front, remove cartridge, look on the cartridge for a small circle and color them with black marker (or use electrical tape), look where they would have aligned inside the cavity, tape a small piece of white paper over those sensor eyes.

I just did this and it stopped the blinking. Don't know how long but based on my reading, one of these was the trick.

Lower light blinks on everytime I try to print anything and nothing prints

Check for any paper jams, I think the orange light mean that there is a error and therefore cant print, check incartriges and other areas inside

Alarm and data lights are both on and when i go to print nothing happens

take y'r drum and toner out of the printer.. now there should be two translutent white circular film on either side of your toner... what u have to do is take a small piece of paper and make a bead out of it and insert that small paper bead right in front of those film.. u can insert on both side or on just one...

if u don't find those circular film then open y'r HL printer toner loading tray and turn y'r printer ON.... u will see green or red light coming out of either side of y'r printer where toner sits.. thats the place u should look for those film on y'r toner....

it worked for me... hope it works for u too...
