Thanks for the heads up the problem is I am a COMPLETE newbie when it comes to this. I was given the sewing machine without no instructions and I have searched high and low to find anything that could help. I apologise if my first question was not clear enough, to be honest after so many failed attempts I had not expected a reply. If there is any way that you could provide step my step instructions I will gladly give you email email address.
Once again my sincere thanks for replying.

If your machine has a top thread tension dial, you should try loosening it, ie toward a smaller number. If the machine has automatic tension, you may need to have it serviced.
Try looking for a manual for your machine here. http://www.riccar.com/help/manuals/
If your model number isn't listed try looking for a similar model or the number nearest to your machine.
Usually, sewing machines of the same brand thread in the same way. Hope this helps!
I got my Jenome MC10001 5 years ago. It was the top of the line combo. Within 5 years Jenome retired it, I also found that the manufacturer was not keeping the connections to the PC current. As well the machine drivers will only connect to a 32 bit PC. Bottom line. Sewing machine manufacturers want to produce computerized machine$ but are not interested in designing their machines to accomodate future technology through firmware upgrades or replacable connection ports. Your machine will likely be obsolete not because of dealer support but because of changing external technology. Also support is not as good as from computer software companies. If you get a embrodery machine, you need software and expensive threads.
read the manual and go through the needle threading and bobbin winding procedure step by step as if you were a novice. I believe the bobbin is ether wound or installed backwards.
I suggest you do a search on youtube on how to thread a sewing machine and choose a video showing a similar machine as there are really only about 3 basic types of machine as regards the threading. Some of these instruction videos are very good and you will find it much easier than explanations. However-the important thing is that the thread must go between the tension discs by your tension regulator and do make sure you have a good need le in the machine, inserted correctly.
Place thread spool on the spool pin at back right top of machine. From there, thread through 1) rear thread guide (little hook), 2) front thread guide (front hook), 3) down and up through the thread tension dial from right to left so that thread picks up the thread spring check (the little spring on the left of the tension dial). 4) Through the thread take-up-lever, from right to left (the little lever that goes up and down). 5) Through the thread guard and guides (one on the front, one on the needle arm). 6) Through the needle, front to back.
