Question about Apple 15" PowerBook G4 Aluminum 1.67 GHz LCD Display (p/n 1002587) (661-3749 1002587) Mac Notebook
My g4 got dropped and is now silent but still working. i changed the sound card but still no sound. have noticed damaged capacitor near the max 1717 chip. what is this chips function, what is this caps value
What sound card are you using? It has to be external for you to switch it. When a computer is dropped, the hard drive and logicboard are under severe danger. The drive is constantly spinning anywhere between 4200 and 10k rpms. If the logicboard endures any shock there could be endless possibilities to failures in addition to them being intermitten. Can you specify which G4 you have, in processor speed and machine/display size? And I take it when you mean " no sound", you also mean no Apple start-up chime when you boot the machine?
