Samsung r530 laptop hard disk warning

Error message when you try to install Windows Vista on computer that has...

This problem occurs because Windows Vista cannot distinguish between ambiguous hard disks.

In versions of Microsoft Windows Setup that are earlier than Windows Vista Setup, hard disks are marked with distinct values to distinguish them. However, this method of distinguishing hard disks is no longer supported because of the potential for data corruption on hard disks.

Do you have more than one hard drive connected to your computer?

If you have two hard drives, remove the second hard drive and continue with the installation.

If that does not work, try to format the C: drive while installing the Vista operating system.

You need to select the "format" option from "advanced" within Vista installation.

Samsung r530 bad sector hard drive. Did not come with operating software disc.

Remove the HDD and test, replace if necessary. You can contact Samsung, with your laptop Serial Number, and purchase a Factory Recovery DVD. Or, you can buy a Windows Installation DVD and do a Fresh install on the new HDD.

Dark screen on R530, can see image with bight light?

If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LED flashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow my instructions to identify the fault and possible fix :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3598095-faulty_laptop_lcd_screen

Samsung r530 wont boot up

Unfortunately, in my past experience this particular model it seems to have a very bad habit of hard drive failure on a regular basis. The particular samsung hard drives used in it are horrible and so is samsung support. You don't say weather or not you can boot from the CD/DVD drive with a live cd in it, but you should try getting one and trying it out.

Get a copy of Hiren's boot cd from here:
http://www.hirensbootcd.org/files/Hirens.BootCD.15.1.zip

Extract the iso and burn it to a CD, then put the CD in your CD/DVD drive and boot from it. Use some of the Hard Drive 'diagnostics on the CD to determine if the Hard Drive is Dead Like I think it probably is. Then Contact Samsung support from this page:
http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/NP-R530-JA02US

Keep after them until they address the problem to your satisfaction. This is a VERY common problem with this particular model so give them an earful!

Status: 0xc00000e9. samsung R530 will not start up and recovery 4 wont start up either

Hello, Tracy.

You may have a hardware error - hard disk may be going bad.

Run your computer's diagnostics by pressing continually pressing F12 (it's possible for your system that another function key loads the diagnostics) upon boot and choose diagnostics. Let it run but pay particular attention to the hard drive diagnostic. If you get an error, your hard drive is probably going bad and would need to be replaced.

If not a hardware error, it's possible that there is a system file problem. Boot your system again, but this time press F8 to access System Restore. Choose a date when your system worked OK and follow the process.

Hope this helps.

Having dropped my Samsung R530 (nothing obviously broken), when I try to stsrt it it is coming up with the message:- "Boot From AHCI CD ROM: Operating System not found" Any ideas?

Hi tony prother,

"Boot From AHCI CD ROM: Operating System not found" error is because the system is booting the CDROM of the system and its not detecting an installed Operating System. You need to check if the system still detects the Hard Drive of your laptop on the Bios page. To go to BIOS reboot the computer and tap F2 on the system and on the bios page check if the hard drive is detected then go to then BOOT Tab select the hard drive as the first boot priority and reboot the system.

If the hard drive is not detected it might be damage, you can get intouch to a local tech to check and backup the files.

Thanks for using Fixya.

My samsung r530 wont read its hard drive. how can i fix this problem?

Unscrew the screws that hold the hard drive, unplug the device, clean the header with some medicinal alcohol. Also clean the motherboard header(where the HDD is connected) in the same manner. Leave it for a couple of minutes to dry, then plug it again.
If it is not working try to test with a different hard drive. If it is working than your hard drive is broken.
If you need further assistance, or have further questions, just leave a comment. Thank you for using FixYa. Cheers
