Receiver won't let volume go higher than -7 dB

I have owned a Pioneer HTP-2920 Home Theater System for a few months now, and it's worked fine until a day ago. For some reason, I can't get the receiver to make the volume go any higher than -7 dB (it usually goes up to 0 dB). Twisting the knob or lowering the volume on the remote both do not make the volume go beyond -7. I tried unplugging the unit and making sure wires were not crossed, and I've shuffled around between various settings, but nothing has done the trick. Am I overlooking something obvious?

Actually, -7 db and above woul be quite load.

Anyway, I am not very familar with the Pioneer GUI auto setup. But, am aware of how AVR are set-up.

If you have set up the home theatre by auto/manual setup then please check the channel levels whether any of your channels settings is at +7.0db.

If so, reduce this setting where it more +7.0, then you would be able to raise the overall main setting from the volume control to go higher than -7db.( by as much as you've lowered the particular channel setting)

Please do let me know if this helps.

How do i fix my remote to work my home theater. i have a htp-071 and my remote stopped working. the battries are brand new. I went away for the weekend and came home, remote didnt work. please help.

Test remote for operation. Problem is with either the remote or the receiver in the home theater.
Clean all battery contacts and install new, tested, working batteries in remote. Turn on am radio and tune AM dial to about 600 - turn up volume. Then bring remote to about one inch from radio and hit button on remote. You should hear a beep as long as you hold the button down. Every button will respond likewise. If nada at all remote is trashed, if works with some buttons then you have a partially operating remote. Try cleaning contacts for buttons that do not work or use some aluminum foil under those non working contacts.

I was given a Jamo sub 1810, but have no instruction manual. I'm trying to hook up to my Pioneer HTP-2500 home theater system. What would be the correct way? Also if you could help me with the setup,...

Find it here...

The Jamo is self-amplified and accepts Line Level input ONLY.

The HTP-2500 receiver drives a subwoofer directly with SPEAKER LEVEL output only and does not have a volume-controlled output for driving externally-amplified devices.

Had to move furniture around and trying to re-hook up my Pioneer 2900 receiver to the back of my computer. Am using a y-adapter, as I have in the past - but either plugged into wrong jacks on back of...

So what's the question? How many heaphone or speaker out jacks does your PC have? Any one will work provided you have trhe sound controls enabling it and the volume turned up.

Any available Line Levl input on the Pioneer will accept the output from the PC.

PIoneer Htp 2700 stopped working

Unit still under warranty. Best bet is to contact Pioneer for the location of their closest authorized factory repair center and ship unit to them for warranty repair. Or check out ebay for a used unit or parts being sold.

Sound Problem

the amplifier must have an individual speaker volume controller that allows you to set different volume levels for each speaker independently, find it and set new levels.
