How to solve the problem"*.exe

This error is generally an indication that the written program isn't designed to be run in the 32 bit windows environment, the program is corrupted, or an error occured while trying to run the program. It is generally due to an older program being run within windows.

The newer windows versions are mostly 32 bit platforms. Some of the old programs from windows 95 and 98 eras won't work because they are 16 bit programs. Examples may include older programs with a .com extension (which will bring up this error message), or old versions of .exe's written for 16 bit environments.

If the program you are attempting to run is a recent program (came with your version of windows XP or later) then it could be an error at execution or the program is corrupted. If the program is written by a major brand and is relatively new, contact the program's technical support number for help.

If you suspect a program error, try and obtain another copy of the program. Uninstall the current copy of the program, restart your computer, then install a fresh copy. If the error continues after doing this, then contact the program manufacturer's technical support number.

If the program you are using is one of the programs from within windows, (from the system 32 folder for example, and include notepad.exe, msconfig.exe, or other programs that can be selected and run from within this folder) do NOT remove or copy over the program. Some of the programs within the windows sub-directories are older 16bit programs, not designed to run within the 32bit platform. It is recommended to NOT remove any of these programs from the windows sub directories.

Hope that helps.

I just bought this scanner and have windows vista hooked it up and nothing. i do not have a disk

Hi,

How to get the Artec 1236USB/Ultima 2000 scanner working in Windows Vista. Note that this how-to skips the various UAC prompts that occur throughout the process.

1. Right click on the Setup executable (whatever the name is, also assumes the full 22MB file) and then select the Compatibility tab. Set compatibility settings to Windows XP (Service Pack 2), and set the program's Privilege Level to run as administrator.

2. Install the scanner drivers and reboot the computer.

3. Go into Control Panel, select System, then select the Device Manager. Select the scanner, which should appear as an unknown item on the list. Right click on the unknown and select Properties, then select the Driver tab. Select the Update Driver button and let it search for the Artec drivers. A warning will appear regarding the lack of a digital signature. Tell Windows to install the driver anyway.

4. Reboot computer.

5. Search for Scan32.exe or open an Explorer window and drill down to c:\windows\twain_32\artecusb\.

6. Right click on Scan32.exe and select the Compatibility tab. Set compatibility settings on scan32.exe to Windows XP SP2 and make sure the executable can run as an administrator.

7. If desired, repeat this process with ScnPanel.exe in c:\program files\artecusb\scanpanel\. My personal opinion is that ScnPanel.exe is redundant, the aforementioned scan32.exe file being far more flexible. It only serves to use up resources, so I wouldn't bother with making the file compatible and would just remove it from the Startup group.

8. Start scanning.

Hope this is helpful and fix the issue.

Thank you for contacting FixYa

CineDashMediaConsole.volume not working.

Cinedash FIX for Windows 7
This works to fix the CineDash Media Console!
I had the same problem with my Aspire 8920G
Now it works fine.
Getting the CineDash Media Console and Launch Buttons working
If you have problems with either the CineDash Media Console or Launch buttons then you will be happy to hear that the solution for fixing these is easy!
The first thing that you will need to do is install the “Launch Manager” which can be downloaded off the Acer website. Go to http://www.acer.com and click the service support, then driver download. Go to your model. Download the Launch Manager on the acer site. The filename should be “Kilimanjaro_v2.0.00_Vistax32×64_XPx32×64.zip” the version of Launch Manager under the Windows Vista operating system .This will get the Email, Web and Empowering Technology buttons working with their default settings. If you need to change what the buttons do, you can launch the application named “Launch Manager” in the start menu.
Uninstall any previous version of Launch Manager
The solution to my problem was to get the Launch Manager to run in compatibility mode for Windows Vista Service Pack 2.
Unzip. Explore the new folder and right-click Setup.exe.
To do this go to the Launch Manager Install directory (C:\Program Files\Launch Manager ), right-click on “setup.exe”, select the “troubleshoot compatibility” tab, check the “Troubleshoot program” check box and then click “The program worked in earlier versions of Windows but won’t install or run now”. Then select “Windows Vista Service Pack 2”. Then click “Start” program. Now everything should work properly! It will install. But don’t reboot yet!
Now locate and explore the freshly installed folder in your program files directory – (probably C:\Program Files (x86)\Launch Manager or C:\Program Files\Launch Manager depending on if you are running 64-bit or 32-bit)
right-click on “LManager.exe”, select the “troubleshoot compatibility” tab, check the “Troubleshoot program” check box and then click “The program worked in earlier versions of Windows but won’t install or run now”. Then select “Windows Vista Service Pack 2”. Then click “Start” program. Now everything should work properly! It will install.
Reboot and enjoy properly synced volume, and fully functioning buttons.

Keyboard stops responding after a powersave on laptop ACER 5715Z

The issue is that several of the Acer software products don't support Vista. You need to remove these programs.

Follow the instructions in this link
http://global.acer.com/support/winvista/t-faq.htm

Due to architectural changes to Windows Vista®,some Acer applications are not supported anymore. Below is a summary ofthese applications. Uninstall these applications before the upgrade.

Acer eRecovery Management The new version of Acer eRecovery Management, which is compatible with Windows Vista®,requires repartitioning your hard disk drive, causing data loss. As aresult, the Wizard will not reinstall the new version of eRecovery onyour computer under Windows Vista®. However, you will be able to find similar features in the built-in Backup Utility of Windows Vista®, including full system volume backup to a HDD or CD/DVD. Acer eAcoustics Management Windows Vista® supports similar functions of eAcoustics so Acer will no longer provide this utility for Windows Vista®. Acer ePresentation Management You can easily manage your external monitor settings via Windows Vista® Mobility Center. As a result, we do not support an upgrade to Acer ePresentation Management. Acer ePower Management Due to architectural changes to Windows Vista®,Acer ePower Management cannot be upgraded for some models. However, youcan easily manage your power settings via Windows Vista® Mobility Center instead. Acer ePerformance Management For notebooks only. Since Windows Vista® provides similar resource management functionalities, we will no longer provide this for notebook models with Windows Vista®. Acer Arcade™ Deluxe 3.x
Acer eNet Management 1.x
Acer eDataSecurity Management 1.x Due to architectural changes to Windows Vista®, these applications cannot be upgraded.

Alternately (not recommended) you can change your settings with the following method. I would recommend removing all the Acer software though as keeping them might cause problems.

Check under Advanced Power Options-> Multimedia Setting -> When Sharing Media. By default onBattery and Plugged is set to "Allow the computer to enter AwayMode" Changing this setting to "Allow Computer to sleep" should solve theproblem. On Battery the Away Mode "does" allow the computer to sleepproperly.
