My Kenmore 500 top loading washing machine wont work right. sometimes it will work and other times it wont. I will put a load in it and sometimes when it hits the rinse cycle it seems like it gets stuck and just keeps on filling up but at the same time the water is draining out of it and it will do it for hours if you let it.the water pipe is higher then the water level in the wash when fully filled as it goes into the wall. also when theres a semi heavy load it will go out of balance. please help...

For the top loading washing machine mostly have drain pump, please check the filter of your drain pump, if clog your drain pump of some hair pins, cotton buds or coins or any small item, that the cause of water stuck, and it will long time draining or totally not running the drain pump.and its cause of stop of cycle of washing machine in rinse time or spin time, because after washing the pump must be on to remove water before start the next cycle.and the unit top load have drain pump you must be up the drain hose up to 90cm from floor lever to make the water lever is make in normal, the water automatically goes out by drain pump.
and for unbalance most of all top loader have problem in unbalance, the main reason is overload or the type of cloth you wash.

SOURCE: Kenmore front-load washer stops at rinse cycle

When the washer initially fills for the wash, is it only hot water entering the drum? Try switching the water temperature between hot and cold as it fills. If any of them show little or no water getting through, it sounds too easy but check to make sure water supply taps are on, and that the cold/hot fill hoses aren't reversed. Remove the fill hoses and check any of the screen filters for blockage (in the hoses and in the inlet water valve). When the machine stops and waits to fill but all you hear is a hum, it sounds like there is power going to the valve but water is not able to get through it.
Good luck!

SOURCE: Kenmore top load washer will not fill on rinse cycle

Hi, It does sound like the contacts in the water level switch are sticking. This switch is activated by presure not vaccum. You can try and bow into the hose leading to the level switch and see if it has any restriction but, it is more likely the level switch is going bad.
Do you have any problem on the initial starting of you wash cycle?
Let me know if this helps at all or I can answer any more questions.

Thanks
Vic

SOURCE: Water fills slowing in washing machine, kenmore ultra fabric care

Check the water inlet valve. If there is a problem it can cause a slow fill condition. Unplug the machine, turn off the water and remove the water supply hoses. Check the small metal screens inside the openings on the valve. Make sure they are clear of rust or debris. The solenoids can be tested using a multimeter or ohmmeter. A lack of continuity means a bad solenoid and the valve assy will need replaced. I will attach a photo for reference. Hope this helped and best wishes.
