Paper jams when folding 8 1/2 X 11 ivory paper; less often with white. Tech says it's a paper issue - so whose colored paper (brand) will work - or is it a design flaw?

Brand new bizhub c450 (second machine!) jams when folding (one-fold) 8 1/2 X 11 ivory paper. Tech has been out several times - no improvement(that's why they delivered a second machine with same problem). Jams less often when folding white paper and no jams when folding 11 X 17 paper. Tech suggests it's a paper problem, but has no suggestions. Any thoughts? G

Tech Bill is here today. Conclusion is that static builds up on the plate over which the paper passes just prior to the folder unit, and the paper thus "catches" on its travel and the "jam" occurs. Paper thickness not the issue. Paper brand/properties probable cause. Konica has a list of the recommended WHITE paper, but not for colors. Sounds like a great research project for someone with lots of time!

Is this paper the same weight/thickness as the white paper?
Are you specifying the settings properly as far as the weight and type?
It sounds like the sensors are detecting a double feed(?)
Try different settings for the tray, and even try a different brand of stock to verify.

Mx2600n is having paper jam BTW the black and white roller before the Fuser unit

Hi,
There are a number of reasons why the paper would jam at registration. First off, if the paper is completely flat & straight it is probably a feed issue or paper detect issue. There are 2 little black photo reflectors before the rollers in the centre of the feed path. These sensors can get covered with paper dust & may need cleaning. Also try feeding paper from the manual feed tray & see if it jams. If you have jams from both cassette's & manual feed then its most likely a sensor of feed issue. If its from one tray only then the sensors in the vertical path may be dusty with paper dust or worn pick up & feed tyres. There is also an issue with the feed clutches in the paper pick up drive unit which can fail & have been upgraded.
Secondly, if the paper is Z folded at the registration rollers but before the fuser then it could be the primary bed drive gear. This gear also drives the secondary belt unit located in the right hand door assembly.
Hope this helps.
Dave.

Keeps saying paper jam,but no paper jam is inside

The jam indication is set because the sensor(s) detect one. This could be due to a buildup of paper dust, a small bit of a sheet that tore off and got lodged deep inside when removing a previous jam, or damage to the sensors if the jam was removed forcibly by pulling the sheets out from the wrong direction.

Why does my Konica Minolta 1690MF have a fuser jam error whenever I print in color?

Everything you checked sound good. Might be printer software problem, and needs to be re-flashed. Software only available from secure web site that a technician would have, see what it cost if to much buy a new one with extra bells and whistles !

HP Color LaserJet CP1215 jamming on print a lot

Printers can be finicky. Ours at church works with no problems until we bought a different brand/weight of paper, then it jammed frequently. That is the first thing I would check. Then, the next thing is the rollers can get slightly worn. When you're talking less-than paper thickness tolerances, it doesn't take much to make a difference between working and jamming. Unfortunately getting these worked on is close to if not right at the cost of a new one.

I have a total of 10 HP Color LaserJet 4650 printers, and 7 of them have the following problem: they jam at the fuser whenever a full-color picture, photo, or slide is sent to print (especially ones with...

This jamming has to do with third-party toner cartridges being used. I had this problem using Xerox toner cartridges and found that I would have no jamming if I used at least 2 hp-brand toner cartridges and the rest Xerox. I then used a different brand of 3rd party toner cartridges that would not jam as long as just the black cartridge was a genuine HP black toner cartridge. This issue has been confirmed even by the manufacturers of the generic toner cartridges. Hope that helps!

Had this for less than a year and now as it prints it sometimes jams and when it does work the printed image is crooked. Seems to be picking up the paper unevenly.

There is probably a crinkled piece of paper stuck in the paper path somewhere causing an alignment issue. Open all the access panels you can and check everywhere for a small piece of paper. Check really good as this issue can be caused by a VERY small piece all folded up.

My brand new X5340 printer shows there is a paper jam but there isn't one. The one and only sheet it has printed was the test page. Since then, I have been unable to get rid of the "clear paper jam"...

hi
follow these steps
1.checked for and remove any obstructionsfrom paper feed tray.
2.tilt and shake printer..checked for any rattling noise..checked for any foreign objects inside printer obstructing the paper flow.
3.Take a sheet of paper ..fold it length wise 3-4 times to make it a thick.insert this into paper feed tray...move it left and right a couple of times..unplug power cable and replug it after 10 seconds...try printing ...if it does not work,,,,contact tech support 1-800-332-4120...ur printer is brand new and under warranty cover,,,they would replace it for u.

Lexmark 5400 series paper jam

As several previous posts said there was a pieces of paper folded up inside. Per a previous post remove the sheet feeder rack. At this point I removed the two outside screws (of the three) on the backe. After this the whole top lifts about 3/4 inch (19mm) to give your fingers more room to clear it. Looks like she will print another day.

Thanks for the tips on here.
