I can successfully recieve txt messages but can't send any, trying to add the correct text messages service center, the option is disables and hence I couldn't edit it
Hi
The message centre number I believe is attached to the sim card. Try putting your sim into another handset and access message number on that and edit. When you move it back to HTC it should work. Hope that helps?

You can actually delete the unnecessary SMS from your phone to make sure that the phone memory is not really full, outbox, sent items, drafts and inbox. You can also check if the message center number that you are using is the correct SMS center number assigned for your service provider, you might need replacing it with another message center numbers. You can call your service provider for the list of SMS center numbers that you can try to use. thanks for choosing www.fixya.com
check the settings includeing the sms center number, also try to reset the phone. IF these don't solve the problem please leave me a comment / reply and we can try something else.
it has to do with the "SMS Message Center", it is a certain number which should be provided by your service provider, after having known what it is, go to menu>messaging>message setting>text messages>message centers> then you will see the list of message centers you pick one or add one if nothing existed, then you edit the name field then the number field (which will be provided by your service provider) then save settings, after going back one step i.e to the menu of "text messages" choose the option of "message center in use" then make sure you have chosen the correct choice which you made and/or edited one step earlier then you save settings, then try to send yourself an SMS, if you have received it successfully then you have done it write! Note: if you are not able to contact your service provider (mobile service company), you can check the needed number through another phone settings which is having sim card from the same service provider.. let us know what happens with you, TC
This could only be caused by a couple of things. The message center number in the handset may not be correct, which will cause the messages to fail. The other possibility is that the feature is not active on your account with your wireless provider. What you need to do is test a couple of things. See if you can send a text/sms message to yourself, in doing this you can verify that you can not only send, but receive text/sms messages. If you cannot send, or receive text/sms messages, then that verifies that the message/service center number is off, and will need to be corrected. If that works, and you can receive text/sms messages, then your service center number is correct, and you will move to the next troubleshooting step, which is to test your web browser. If you cannot launch the web browser on your handset, then this is an issue, because the MMS service requires that you have both SMS, and web browser service to send a MMS message. If you can access the internet and you have the ability to send/receive text/sms, then you need to call your service provider as the issue may be with their service.
I had the same problem and came to this site for help but the solutions didn't solve the problem of "cannot send text message" on htc touch hd. All service numbers correct. Went to START/SETTINGS/CONNECTIONS/ADVANCED NETWORK/SMS SERVICE then changed from "gprs" to "gprs preferred". Double checked and had reverted to "GSM" but sms now works - finally!!! Hope this helps.
Kindly check the message center number from your mobile phone if its already there or you can contact your Network Service Provider to provide you the specific and correct message center number. Usually, you don't have to touch these numbers. If you suspect they are incorrect, contact your mobile service provider and ask them to send an Over The Air (OTA) message with the correct information in it.
Please be informed that the SMS Message Center Number is a phone number that acts as a gateway for transferring SMS messages between cellular devices.
From the Options pulldown menu, select Preferences.
The SMS Message Center and SMS E-mail Center number should appear. (Treo 600 note: tap on the tab that says SIM). If you do not see any numbers, it means your mobile service provider does not allow you to change these numbers. But usually you can edit these numbers and your Network Service Provider will provide you the correct and specific one.
Make sure you have your sms sending number from your service provider correct. go to message settings, message sending center number and ,ake sure its right- get it from your service provider operator
can u send txt messages?? if u cant, then i guess u should contact your service provider and make sure the SMS center number in use is the right one, provided by your service provider.
if the SMS center number is ok, then try deleting some messages from the phone and set the SMS memory on the memory card and see if that helps.. i think it should do the trick.. cheersz
