You should always have all expensive electronics on a surge protector. It sounds like for this set the power regulators blown out as I know this set very well and seen it a hundred times!! its a power regulator IC that cant handle a power surge at all. and if thats your only problem, it shouldnt cost more then 175.00 to 250.00 to repair. Now with a surge though there could be other problems as well but from what you stated Im guessing alls ok except what i stated. Now Please do not attempt to repair yoursels, as these sets have alot of Hi voltage inside them even when they are unplugged.. Good Luck

Skippy is right, you should check the color wheel. There are only two moving parts in the set and the color wheel is one of them. If you listen closely to the TV you may hear a high pitched whirr or whine. If so, you've got a bad color wheel motor. If you are mechanically inclined, take the back off and remove the lamp vent. Take off the screws and cables holding the optical block tray and slide the tray out. The lamp points directly at the color wheel. There is a metal heat sink held in place by two silver screws over the compartment infront of the lamp. Using latex gloves, remove those and the whole color wheel assembly will come out. Of course this process isn't as simple as I've stated it but with some common sense you'll be fine. When replacing the wheel pay attention to the model number. Some of these sets use a bearing setup and others an air cushion one. Make sure you order the right part. If you do order the wrong one, not all is lost, you can (with a jumper) modify it to work. Make sure your gloves are clean and re-install the color wheel, and reverse your dismantle. Good luck!

My Samsung HLP-4667W DLP TV has no picture when I turn it on.

The color wheel can be ruled out by looking at it---it faces the lamp and can be seen---look to see if any segments of the wheel are missing or if the wheel is totally shattered.

Other than the wheel I am concerned by "blue splotches etc" as it might be a DMD gone bad. Look at the attached photo and the color wheel first.

The tv picture goes out

Sounds like the ballast has gone out. Samsung recommends replacing the smps board(power supply board) when you replace the ballast because it is the smps that takes out the ballast. replacing just the ballast ,machine may work ok for a short time but will destroy the new ballast fairly quickly.

SHOULD HAVE REPLACED THE BALLAST WITH THE LAMP AT THE SAME TIME, YOU MIGHT GET LUCKY AND ONLY HAVE TO REPLACE THE BALLAST, DON;T TURN IT ON ANY MORE OR YOU WILL WASTE THE LAMP

Turning On Problem

HLP, HCN HL-S The Start-up Problem or/and
3 LEDs in the front blinking.

Unplug the set, pull out the lamp module (not all the way - leave it on the track) and push it back in.

Power issues (Tv not turning on) were typically due to faulty ballast. While the TV reports a bad lamp it is the ballast itself causing the issue. Samsung is well aware and will replace both the ballast and the lamp (since the lamp can be prematurely aged but the bad ballast). After replacment most people stop having issues.
