Page 128 of the manual says:
Start the computer to which Nikon Transfer was installed.
So before you can transfer pictures to a computer you have to install software. If the software was not in the box with the camera, I'm sure you can get it for free with Nikon.
I use ViewNX2 from Nikon, and it was and still is free. You can transfer and manage the pictures on your PC. Just visit the Nikon website for the apropriate software to your camera.

The easiest way is to transfer pics from the camera memory to you pc/notebook memory and then copy them to the the memory card thereafter with the help of a memory card reader.

SOURCE: Internal Memory to Memory Card

This was a pain for me to figure out. I too had the same problem. This may not be the RIGHT way, but it is how I did it.

First, copy everything you want off the memory card and then insert it into the camera. Format the card.

Then, take a single picture.

Now, with the camera on, hit the playback button to view the picture you just took.

Press the MENU button, and scroll through the menu to the very last entry, which should be COPY.
Press OK, and then you can select to copy from INternal to memory card, or memory card to INternal (note, IN means internal in the menu). You, of course, want internal to memory card, so select it if not already done so, and press okay.

That's all there is too it! I recommend erasing all images from the internal memory once you're done so you don't get confused later if you see images on there again.

Good luck! Ray - www.desertdawg.com

SOURCE: How to transfer Nikon Coolpix camera pictures to memory card?

Make sure you have an SD memory card inserted and your camera is on. Press the Play button to view your images. Now press menu and scroll down to the copy feature. You have two options, copy from camera to memory card is on top, and from memory card to camera is on the bottom.  Once you select your option, choose your pictures and copy.

Lardzor.

SOURCE: Nikon coolpix 4600: How to transfer pictures from camera to card?

ok I figured out how to do it! put the memory card into the camera, then go to view the pictures. Then press the menu button and scroll until you see the copy button. Then you will see the option to copy from camera to card, or card to camera. Press the option to copy from camera to card and press select all....(or whichever pictures you want copied...I wanted all pictures copied). Then voila! it takes a few seconds to copy from the camera to the card, and there you have it! :)

ALTERNATE WAY TO TRANSFER PHOTOS TO COMPUTER
If your photos are stored on the memory card, then remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader. Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of your working computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device or an external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card and copy the photos to your computer. Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. You can copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off your memory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing any programs.

Iwant to transfere photos from camera to PC

I'm glad to provide the instructions to transfer images from the Camera to the Computer. Once you connect the Camera to the computer, you will get the Camera as a removable drive under My Computer. You can open the removable drive to see the pictures stored in the Camera/Memory Card.

If the Operating System installed in your Computer still needs a driver, you may use the Memory Card slot on the Computer to transfer the pictures. Please follow the steps to transfer pictures using Memory Card Reader in the Computer:

- Remove the Memory Card from the Camera.

- Insert it in the Memory Card slot in the Computer.

- Open the pop up window or find out the removable drive under My Computer.

- Copy the required files to a folder in the Computer.

Note : Most of the Notebooks comes with its own Memory Card Slot. If it does not, you may get one from the market without much spending.

Thanks for understanding.

I took pictures on my camera without a memory card can i still download my pictures

I'm glad to provide the steps to transfer images from Internal Memory of the Camera. When the camera does not have a memory card in it, the images are saved by default to the camera's internal memory, which holds different amounts of images based on how many megapixels are built into the internal memory and what image quality and compression are selected in the camera's menu. Once a memory\picture card is inserted in the camera, the camera then saves the photos to the memory\picture card and ignores the internal memory.

There are two ways to transfer the images from the internal memory.

  • To transfer photos to a computer from the internal memory using the USB cable, first remove the memory card from the camera. Then, when the camera is connected, the computer and software will only see what is in the internal memory and transfer those photos or videos. During the transfer process, the computer makes copies of the photos and videos-the original images remain in the internal memory. After the transfer is complete and the camera is safely disconnected from the computer, the contents of the internal memory can be deleted by using the MEMORY FORMAT function in the SETUP menu in the camera's menus.

  • The other way to transfer photos from the internal memory is to transfer them to the memory\picture card using the BACKUP function in the SETUP menu. If there is no memory\picture card in the camera, the BACKUP function is grayed-out. During BACKUP, copies of the images are transferred to the memory\picture card-the original images remain in the internal memory. After the BACKUP is complete, the internal memory can be cleared by removing the memory\picture card and formatting the internal memory using the MEMORY FORMAT function in the SETUP menu in the camera's menus.

Note: When the camera is connected to a computer using the USB cable with a memory\picture card in the memory\picture card slot, the computer will only see the contents of the memory\picture card.

Thanks for understanding. Please let me know if you require any additional help.

Transfer pictures to memory card

Hello,
You should just transfer the pictures to your computer (Then back to the card if you want). I don't think there is a copy to card function. However, internal memory and card memory are separate, so there's no risk of overwriting them, either. Just don't delete them.
