I have a Goodman GMS9 furnace. When the furnace starts the induction fan runs for about 15 seconds, the ignitor turns on but thats as far as it goes. The burners do not light and I don't think the gas valve turned on. I did find a loose condensate line (no clamp) on the heat exchanger. Also the induced draft blower is noisy and I suspect the bearings are starting to go. This is an intermittent problem and I would like to get it solved before colder temps set in.

SOURCE: Burner ignites and goes out (Goodman Gas-fired furnace)

Hi,
The problem you have is water in the exhaust pipe.
Check to see if the pipe has sagged anywhere or if there is a trap in the line.
If you hear gurgling then it is definetly water....
Some times can be hard to find, even a pipe 1/4 full will cause problems. They are very sensitive to flue problems.
Make sure that the flue pipe either runs back to the furnace or out to the outside, a continuos slope either way witha high spot in the middle.
Also check the bottom drain of the blower if it has one, have had them plug and trap water also..

I hope that this will help you to solve your problem!

Thanks for using Fixya!!

Have you measured the temperature in the suppy plenum? Should be 140 to 160 max. If hotter, you have a blockage in the ductwork or vents closed. If within spec, bad circuit board.

Goodman Furnace GMS9/GCS9 Blower seems to not be made very well. The repairman put two different ones on before finding one that's somewhat balanced. I still feel it rumbling a little. Are there

It is possible it is a problem with the motor mounting bracket or the fan housing itself. Tough to believe you have gotten three bad blower wheels. Also could be the motor .

My furnace heats the house well, but during the cool down it actually blows cold air dropping the temperature causing the furnace to re-ignite. How do I adjust? Goodman - GMS9/GCS9

Depending on the age of the furnace you may be able to adjust the cool down. On some furnaces there is a silver box usually made by honeywell. This is your fan limit control. If you take the cover off you will see a dial with different temperature settings with 3 pins in a grove. The first one is fan on with temperature rise this turns the blower on when the furnace starts and warms up. The second is the fan off after furnace shuts down, this would be the one you want to adjust to a higher temperature to keep the blower from blowing cold air. The last pin is the high limit if the furnace gets to this temperature it will shut the furnace off but keep the blower running. Make sure that the thermostat fan option is set to auto and not on.

How to manually relight a Goodman® GMS9/GCS9 Single-Stage, Multi-Speed Gas Furnaces

You should NEVER attempt to relight manually this furnace. Serious burns could be the result. This furnace has an electronic ignition and should light by itself. If it does not light you may have a bad ignitor. These are usually around 30-50 US dollars.

Goodman Furnace m/n GKS90453BKAC

A constant red light (not blinking) indicates that the thermostat is not calling for heat. Of course you know it is but just to be safe, jump out R and W on the board. If it continues to do the same as you indicated, replace the board.
