When I turn my phone on it goes to the motorola screen then straight to a blue screen with the motorolla sign and at the bottom it reads "bootloader USB INIT" and I can't get out of it. I was told this is a motherboard problem and it has to be returned to Motorola for repairs.

Same thing...f-ing makes me frustrated. Everyone has something to say about fixing it or nothing. I've tried leaving the battery out. I've tried banging it on the desk. Nothing seems to help.

In my case a w755, if it just reboots and goes back to the bootloader usb init bluescreen no matter what, try tethering the phone to your computer and run 'motorola software update', it was able to connect, update/uncorruptify the software on the phone and now it works again!

----------------------- Motorola W755 error In my case a w755 model phone, if it just reboots and goes back to the bootloader usb init bluescreen no matter what, even if you take out the battery for a minute or try rebooting it with no battery and just the AC adapter. If nothing works, try tethering the phone to your computer and run 'motorola software update', it was able to connect, update/uncorruptify the software on the phone and now it works fine again. In my case the above solution worked the first time. But, after about a month the same screen appeared again with the same symptoms. Retethering the phone did my work. I think it is a hardware issue. I stuck it in the freezer for a while, didn't fix it. So then I carefully put it in my toaster oven on a piece of tin foil and let it heat the phone to about 200 degrees Fahrenheit, or about 2 minutes on "toast" (upper and lower elements).. The outside and inside screen turn black because they are too hot, but they will recover once they cool down. Take out the battery and put it back in. The phone will boot up properly now and will function fine, at least it has for me for about a month until the screen popped up again. I repeated the toaster oven procedure again and once again the phone is working fine. Very little permanent warpage on the phone.

This happens to phones that have had water damage or something else and a way that might make it work is to take the battery out for no more than 60 seconds and put it back in and push the *,# and power buttons at the same time and if the blue screen comes up, while on the screen push the buttons and hold them until it goes normal. it worked for me

Pressing 'power' and # and * at the same time will start the phone in this boot mode. It is used for preparing a phone for new software to be uploaded. If your phone is doing this the software is probably corrupted and you will not be able to recover. You may be able to have it flashed with new software at the store. (You can flash it yourself with a usb cable and some software found online if you are brave)

My free verizon motorola w755 did this after I dropped it in the pool. I was not ever expecting to get the phone to work again and had already gone back to my old razr when I noticed this thread on howard forums: http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?p=11659206
I flashed the phone, which I guess basically puts the OS/firmware back on there. All works fine now. Re-activated through account online and dialed *228. Sweet!

The folks at the verizon store are useless. They just want you to buy another phone. All the software I used was from motorola and is available with some searching on the web.

SOURCE: bootloader USB INIT

Get this Phone reflashed. Of course if you Dropped the Phone or if it went into water then Forget it about spending 35-50 Bucks on reflasing this phone. because it will go back to Boot Mode.

hold the end key(power) and it should restart back to normal. If it goes back into bootloader then your phones software could be corrupt or could have a wrong value in somewhere. What provider is this?

Bootloader usb init

This means that the phone firmware is corrupt - you can try to reflash it using Motorola software update, but it might not work for a phone stuck in bootloader mode:
