My Hitachi 42hdt50 goes into standby mode whenever any kind of video input goes to the TV, you can unplug the TV, wait 15 seconds and it will click then the tv will come out of standby mode. But will go back into standby mode as soon as any input is sent it.

I have had some issues with high ESR readings in the capacitors in the scaler circuits in those units. Do you have an ESR meter to check the caps in circuit?

TURN THE TV OFF AND LEAVE OFF. TURN THE CABLE ON AND TURN THE CABLE OFF. LEAVE THE TV ON.

Hi there mine has started doing the same thing today, on other hitachi models it is a serious fault warning, i will come back when i find out more.

make sure u cycle main power switch before u unplug then unplug wait 30 seconds and repeat one more time

Describe the past - How did it fail? One day or acting up for a while? Could be a weak power supply - a bad capacitor on a power supply too. Look for popped up capacitor top inside.
