Usually speaker wires have a solid color, and a stripe of another color on them. Sometimes it's a solid color, and rings going around the wire of another color.

The striped wire is the Positive. Then there will be a wire, that is the same color as the stripe. (On the striped wire) This is the Ground wire.

How doi install a radio after the original has been stolen and wires ripped out

You will need to buy an install kit even if they did. The back of new Radio's don't have anything but a plug to connect to. So the install kit will be needed to hookup the four {or just two depending on it's already installed options} speakers, the power, and ground. Plus the Antenna cable. They will all be color coded.

Radio wire harness cut

You can buy a kit from a number of sources to solve this problem. Instructions come with the kit. If you are putting a stock radio back in go to a junk yard and cut the loom out of another truck and marry it to your truck. If you don't want to do either of these things the fat red wire is almost always hot. The antenna cable is unique and will only fit in one spot. the speaker wires are small diameter and will work no matter which way you hook them up as long as one hot (speaker) wire and one ground wire go to each speaker. Have fun.

Radio wires differ from the speaker to the radio

This is the most common problem with self installs. The best thing to do is to get the car radio installation plug,it will plug into the factory plug for your factory radio and will give you a color coded pigtail to wire into that usually matches up perfectly with new aftermarket car radios. If the wires are already cut then you best bet is to extend the wires so that they are easy to work with hookup the power, ground, antenna and try dirrerent combos to isolate each speaker and label the wires accordingly.

The color of the wires from my old and new radio dont match up!?

Jags are definitely a pure breed. The new radio most likely has writing on the wires that tell where they are to be connected to. I take that back. I just checked the wiring of an older model JVC unit and there or not listings. If your radios doesn't have writing just remember Orange(or yellow) is illumination, and it goes to the fuse block; red is power, going to the fuse block; the big black one is the ant.; the little one is the ground to the chassis. The others are speakers. Connect them to the colors they are closely resembling in your Jag. Connect the power and turn on your radio. You can reconnect the lines to the correct speaker by checking each speaker. hope this helps.
