That password allows you to connect to your router or modem/router. The password may be printed on the router. If not, see this article:

I'm trying to connect wirelessly, but its asking for a sercurity key code! What is this and where do I find it? Help, pls!

Network security key
Some later model wireless routers have the Password (ie.Encryption key) and the SSID already configured in the wireless router and this information is printed on a label on the bottom of the router.
These settings can be used to configure the wireless card and wireless adapters in your computer/laptop.
If these settings do not suit you, then it can be changed to suit your requirements.
The encryption key secures your data and wireless connection from unauthorized access. To configure the wireless settings in the router, connect a LAN cable from your computer to the wireless router, then open a Browser on your computer and enter the router's configuration IP address, then enter the admin login and password and then go to the wireless settings and configure the SSID and Encryption key.
The router's encryption key can be a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA or WPA2 key.If you use the Passphrase method select either WEP or WPA or WPA2 to generate the encryption key. You can enter the WEP or WPA or WPA2 key with 8 to 63 ASCII characters or 64 Hex digits.
Most people use Passphrase which is easier to remember eg. I was born in January 1988.
The strongest and latest security is WPA2, the weakest and oldest is WEP. To connect to your wireless router from the computer/laptop, configure the wireless card in your computer/laptop with the router's wireless settings ie SSID, plus the WPA or WPA2 encryption key. Then computer/laptops can communicate with your wireless router. http://www.fixya.com/support/r10267861-network_security_key

What is a WPA2 password?

A WPA2 password is simply a password, nothing more. The difference between a WPA2 password and a WPA password is the amount of security each have-- WPA2 is more secure than WPA.

What is WPA2 pass phrase

Hi.
WPA2 is a method for encrypting wireless connections.
WPA2 passphrase is a password you can set in the routers configuration menu, so that others cannot access your internet connection/home network. It is highly recommended to use it as otherwise your personal data could easily get compromised (I suggest using WPA2-PSK).
If you are asking this because you forgot/don't know your routers password then I suggest resetting it (pressing the reset button with a toothpick or pen for about 10 seconds) this will remove the password, and then you can reconfigure it by following your routers manual.

Im looking for the wpa2 number for my dynex router

  1. On a computer that has a wired connection to the Router, open up a web browser. In the address field, type 192.168.2.1 (or the IP address you customized), then click Enter.
  2. In the menu at left, go to the wireless section and click Security.
  3. If asked to log in, enter your password or, if you have not yet set a custom password, leave this field blank. Then click, Submit.
  4. You should now see your WPA2 Configuration key in the Pre-shared key field.

I can't figure out my security settings. I currently have it set to: Authentication: Open Encryption: WEP-128 and Key input to phass phrase: for which I selected a common password that I use My...

WEP usually gives you a passkey, you do not choose this.
If you choose WPA2, then you can choose a password.
WPA2 is far more secure, and if you have the option to choose it, then do so.
Log on to your router and check if it is available

How do i put a password on my Belikn G Plus router.

Hi,
To secure your wireless router you should specify a WPA or WPA2 key (depending what your router supports).
To set it up follow the steps below:
Open an internet explorer and type 192.168.0.1 on the address bar above and press enter.
The router will probably ask for a username and password which if you haven't set it will probably be "admin" for the username and "admin" or a blank password.
Then go to wireless settings and choose wireless security. Choose WPA2 if it is available (avoid WEP as it not very secure). Then enter a passphrase that you will remember and save your settings.
When you try to connect from your laptop or other wireless device it will ask for the type (WEP,WPA, WPA2) and the passphrase that you entered. That's it!
