Installation disks I just bought a mac lap top from a friend with out the installation disks. What are installation disks used for?

Search online for the 'PRODUKEY' free(!) software.
Download it. Unzip it.
Connect the disk-drive from the "burnt-out" computer as a "slave" disk-drive.
Run PRODUKEY, and point it to the drive-letter for the "slave" disk-drive,
and it will display the product-key that you used to install Word 2007.

Borrow the official Microsoft Word 2007 CD/DVD from a friend, and use that disk,
and your product-key, to install the software.

It sounds like the system is corrupted. What I would do is to get your instal disk to boot up holding down the c key on your keyboard. Once you have booted up go to the file menu and run disk utility to verify and repair the hard drive. Then go to the instal menu and instal a fresh system remembering to preserve the users data so you do not wipe anything. Hopefully this will work.

Now that's unusual, a Spanish laptop and printer having Spanish menu's!

If I were you I'd go into the control panel and change the regional settings and languages.

if your using a non mac drive it needs to be reformatted using disk utilities in you applications folder
a lot of times mac will read a pc drive but have trouble writing to it until it's formatted in the MAC format

I AM CURENTLY AWITING ANOTHER REBOOT DISK AS THE MANUFACTUERS OF THE LAP TOP SAID IT MIGHT NEAD THE FULL INSTAL OF VISTA HOME BASIC AND NOT JUST THE REBBOT PROGRAM VERSION I GOT WITH THE PC. AS THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE THE START UP SETINGS THAT CONFIGS THE BIOS TO USE VISTA. ( I DIDNT UNDERSTAND THIS TILL I ACTURLY GOT INTO THE BIOS) THE NEW DISK WILL ASLO INCLUDE A NEW PRODUCT KEY THAT DOES NOT NEAD TO BE CONFIRMD VIA INTERNET TO USE AS IT IS JUST THE BASIC VISTA PROGRAM THAT SHOLD ALOW ME TO INSTAL MY UTILITIS AND DRIVERS TO INSTAL THE MODEMS AND OTHER SYSTEM FILES. WHEN I ORIGANLY GOT THE LAP TOP IN 2007 THE REBOOT &RECOVERY DISKS ONLY HAD THE SET UP PROGRAMS THIS ALOWS YOU TO INSTAL VISTA OPERATING SYSTEM BUT NOT ALL THE PROGRAMS WILL WORK AS YOU NEAD TO DOWNLOAD THE FULL SYSTEM SETINGS. SO JUST TO LET OTHERS KNOW IF YOU GOT A LAP TOP OR PC THAT ONLY HAD A REBOOT DISK TO CHEK THAT IT IS THE FULL VERSION ( NEW VISTA RECOVERY 2008 ) AND NOT THE 2007 ONE
