I have a hotpoint freezer fza34 The red high temp

I have a hotpoint freezer fza34 The red high temp is on. The frozen food stays frozen but new food I put in takes forever to freeze particularly in the bottom drawer. Having taken out the drawers and inside cover I can confirm the fan is running, and the compressor is running, it's warm but not too hot. You can hear the compressor and fan coming on then going off after a few minutes. Then it comes back on after a few minutes and so on. The evaporator is cold and has frost on it, it is not all iced up. Drain hole inside is not blocked either. Seems everything is working ok but the high temp light stays on and food not freezing as well as it used to. Any ideas?

It could be that your fridge, freezer setting is not turned up high enough to keep the freezer cold enough.turn it up to setting number 5 at least and if that dont do it u could have a faulty thermostat.have it checked by a engineer.

Testimonial: "Hi Roy, I tried that for a few days, no change. Hotpoint recommend it is set at 3 or 4 (options 1-5) I put in a tray of water in the ice cube tray and it froze ok, just took a little longer. I'm pretty handy at DIY and most things, is fitting a new thermostat a tricky job, I generally try all DIY and repairs myself before I'll call in an expert. Appreciate your feedback."

SOURCE: ICE BUILDUP ON BOTTOM OF FREEZER, DRAIN HOLE FROZEN

There is normally a small filiament of metal which is attached to the defrost element and conducts heat down the drainpipe preventing ice build up. You can pour some boiling water onto this area and even wriggle a piece of plastic tubing down the drain pipe to dislodge any blockage. For future prevention, you can attach a piece of copper wire around the defrost element (in the absence of the original filiament) and extend it down the drainpiple

SOURCE: Hotpoint freezer, High temp light on & all food thawing

It's probably the defrost timer is getting stuck in the defrost mode. What it does it it periodically interrupts power to the compressor and sends power to the defrost coils to allow any frost on the cooling coils to melt to keep them clear of ice build up. This is typically a mechanical timer and sometimes the motor fails and it stop turning and if it fails in the defrost mode, the compressor never turns back on no matter how warm the freezer is.

You can confirm it is the timer, by tracing the wires from the compressor to a little 2 by 2 inch box which is the timer. On one side there should be a round hole with a plastic cam. You should be able to turn that cam with a flat screw driver or a coin. Just give it a slight turn until you hear a click. After you turned the cam, the compressor should start. If it does, then it is the timer.

Why does the red light on my VF70 freeze r stay on all the time?

Warning light (red)

If the temperature warning light ? lights up, it indicates that the temperature within the freezer has reached a level where the safe food storage is no longer ensured. When the freezer is first switched on, the warning light will stay on until the temperature has dropped to a safe level for the storage of frozen food.

I have a Zanussi Freezer Model ZFT710FW. The alam and red light occasionally go off, although everthing appears OK. Temp OK, door seal looks good, etc. After some time the red light goes off of its own...

Red Alarm Indicator Light
Under normal operating conditions, the internal temperature of the freezer will ensure the long-term conservation of the stored food. When such temperature rises above a certain level (-12 Ā°C), the appliance will trigger an acoustic and light alarm. The light alarm is a blink red light (Red Alarm Indicator Light), while the acoustic alarm is an intermittent sound.
You can stop the acoustic alarm by pressing the Acoustic Signal Stop Switch once.

When switching on the freezer for the first time, the Red Alarm Indicator Light will blink until the internal temperature has reached a level required for the safe conservation of frozen food.

Fast Freeze function
If more than 3-4 kg of food is to be frozen:
1. Press the Fast Freeze Switch for 2-3 seconds to activate the fast-freeze function 6-24 hours before placing the fresh food in the freezer, the Yellow Fast Freeze Indicator Light will illuminate. The compressor will now run continuously, to ensure that the fresh food is frozen as quickly as possible.
2. It is possible to deactivate the function at any time by pressing the Fast Freeze Switch for 2-3 seconds.
3. Place the foods in the freezing compartments (indicated with graphics).
4. Once the food is completely frozen (it may take up to 24 hours) you can manually switch off the fastfreeze function by pressing the Fast Freeze Switch for 2- 3 seconds and the Yellow Fast Freeze Indicator light will also go out.
5. Move frozen food from the freezing compartments into the other compartments (storing compartments) to make room for another freezing.

If the Fast Freeze Switch is accidentally left on, the fast-freeze function will be automatically switched off 48 hours later. The Yellow Fast Freeze Indicator light will also go out.

I believe that you all understand. If you intend to freeze larger amount of food then certainly a few hours before some shopping switch on the fast freeze function.

My hotpoint future fza34 is leaking from underneath

you need to get to the back of fridge and ul notice a tray full of water ontop of the compressor. remove tray and empty water out. when replacing v important to make sure it is sitting level on compressor again.

there is also an underlaying prob here, maybe alot of condensation on shelves also??

ensure doors are closing properly and saels are in good shape, also avoid putting warm food in fridge and make sure liquids are covered. this should stop tray filling with water and leaking

Freezer runs constantly

not necessarily, is it maintaining temp? all food staying frozen? especially ice creams if stored in there. most newer freezers displace the heat generated while cooling the food through copper lines running through sides of unit, helps to cut down on air temp differences between the inside (0 degrees) and outside temp to prevent moisture and possible condensation causing premature rusting of unit
