I just bought newer kindle. do I have to reregister my old kindle for me to start using new one ?

No you only deregister if you no longer have it. Just register the new one to start using it. I have a paperwhite and a fire tablet. There is an option to sync the books so you can use either one.

Normally you register by having the wifi on, use the menu icon at the top, then settings should show you the registration information.

How to deregister a device

To deregister your Kindle Fire tablet:

  • From Amazon.com, go to Your Apps and Devices.
  • Click Your devices.
  • Click the Actions button, and then click Deregister device. Deregistering your device prohibits Appstore purchases on that device, and disables the use of any app purchased from Amazon Appstore for Android and downloaded to that device. You can re-enable purchasing from the device by signing in to the Amazon Appstore for Android again.

You can also reset the device after you deregister, so once you register you device will be like new:

  • Slide down the top menu and tap "More...":
  • On the Settings screen tap "Device":
  • At the very bottom you'll see the option, "Reset to Factory Defaults".

Hope that helps!

Deregister

Yes, as long as the account still exists. If you cancel the account in the meantime then obviously you won't be able to reregister to that account. However you will be able to register to a different account.
