The power lead adapter is broken where can i buy a new one.

You maybe ale to remove the broken plug with a pair of tweezers or a needle nose pliers.
You need to buy a plug, the same size os the one you have removed then you can solder this to the leads on your power adapter.
Make sure the leads are soldered to the plug with the correct polarity if it is wired the wrong way it can damage your laptop.

Bad connection or the wire has a short, ask someone who knows like the geek squad at Best Buy, if they can't help they might know who might.

The lead overheating is a bad sign.

Looking for a replacement I found on eBay Three items

This seems to be the going rate for the power adapter.
The whole new drive, with power adapter looks more attractive than the power adapter with the expensive shipping.

Do you mean only the power cable that linked the power brick with laptop was broken? Of course if you are 100% sure that's the only part that fail, you may only buy a cable. Check this link blow:

But if you are not that sure, i'll suggest you buying a whole new charger:

where's this power jack located? in the laptop or in the power adapter? if from power adapter it is very easy. just buy a power jack that is the same with the defective. cut the defective part and solder the new one. if its from the laptop. you have to open the unit. then do the same process. but this time you will not cut the defective jack. you will use a soldering iron, soldering pump to remove the lead. after that install the new one. of course you will need some lead and soldering iron to do that. good luck.

This is either a bad AC adapter or a broken power jack in the laptop. First to test would be the adapter. You will need a multitester set on DC voltage, the adapter should be putting out about 22 volts. Put the red test lead into the center of the plug and hold the black lead to the outside of the plug. If you don't show a voltage then the power adapter is broken and you will need to get a replacement. If you do get a reading then the power jack in the laptop is broken and the unit will need to be taken to a computer shop that can open the unit and solder the connections.

Yes you can buy a replacement power adapter to any computer of electronic store near you and it will be better if you take the broken adapter with you so they can provide you the correct one....

Are you getting any of the power lights on? There should be a LED light showing "on AC power" and another showing "battery charge". It sounds like either the ac adapter is shorted out or the power jack in the laptop is broken. If you have a multimeter you can test the charger/adapter. Put the meter on DC volts and put the red lead on the center tip of the plug and the black lead to the outside metal of the plug. You should get from 18 to about 26 volts. If you don't get anything then the adapter is bad and will need to be replaced. If you do get the right voltage reading then the laptop jack is likely broken. You can get it repaired at most computer service depots.

I would get a new one reguardless if it still works, a broken adapter can lead to a broken laptop easily enough.
