Imaging unit my transfer belt was not screwed in and the machine was turn on can this damage the belt

C360 error: "Replace Image Transfer Belt Unit"

The error message under that title is "Have the image transfer belt replaced soon." It's a new unit, but resists doing the Gradation Adjust. Tried returning the old belt (which was working before the replacement) and error message remains, so apparently the problem is not with the new belt.

System Error Clear (System 1 -> Initialization) gives "Result: OK" but has no effect; the problem remains after machine restart. However, it does NOT at any time give L-5 error (Transfer belt unit accumulated rotation time excess warning), just continues to say "replace image transfer belt unit", and will not allow anything else to proceed. What am I missing? (Transfer belt clutch malfunction?

Transfer belts for the C550 series models are normally replaced by technicians. If you order the belt to install yourself, you turn off main power, open right side cover, locate guide plate under current belt, loosen thumb screw and remove plate, remove 2 screws securing the belt locks, remove front cable support on right side cover to lower cover, then pull belt out right side of machine. Install new belt in reverse order.
I would recommend a trained technician as the belts can become easily damaged.

can you explain more the functions of each are as followed fuser melts the toner to the paper so it dosnt rub off ozone filter filters out the ozone so you don't get headaches and turn al the rollers to bubble gum transfer roller pushes the paper onto the transfer belt applying the image to the paper and imagine unit is where thetransfer belt gets the image from

1 Wipe clean the surface of the transfer belt with a soft cloth, if it is dirty.
2 Change the image transfer belt unit if the transfer belt is damaged.
3 Change the PH unit.
4 Change PRCB.

P-6 : Cyan imaging unit failure
P - 7:Magenta imaging failure
P -8 :Yellow imaging unit failure
P -9:Black imaging unit failure
Select Imaging Process adjustment - D Max Density and if the setting value is negative readjust.
Check the drive transmission portion of the imaging unit and correct as necessary,clean theIDC registration sensor windows if dirty,clean the contact of the imaging unit connector if dirty,check the high voltage connector for proper connection.If necessary change the image unit or the image transfer belt unit.

Check the transfer belt unit contact and that of high voltage board for connection and clean or correct the contact.
Change the image transfer belt unit.
Clean the sensor windows on the transfer belt unit.

SC457 Position error for the image transfer belt’s cleaning unit

- Timing & Condition
• When the belt cleaning section touches the image transfer belt, but the belt cleaning sensor signal remains LOW.
• When the belt cleaning section releases from the image transfer belt, but the belt cleaning sensor remains HIGH.
• Dirty Sensor
• Defective sensor
• Defective belt cleaning shift clutch
• Defective drum peripheral component motor
• Defective I/O control board
• Defective main control board

1. Pull out and re-insert the image transfer
belt unit.
2. Clean the image transfer belt cleaning H.P. sensor.
3. Replace the sensor. (Input Check: 5-803- 012)
4. Replace the belt cleaning shift clutch. (Output Check: SP5-804-036)
5. Replace the drum peripheral component motor.
6. Replace the I/O control board.
7. Replace the main control board. [Signal Check]
• H.P.: CN219-B2 or TP108 on the I/O
control board

this is an error for the transfer belt there is a mark or the belt has been damaged if you open up th efront cover and then look at the brown panel there are two screws either end that nee to be loosened then lift this up next there is two screws on the transfer unit that run diagonally acros the inside of the machine and a third screw on the black unit (duplex) unit this needs to be taken out.. once you have done this there is a green lever in the top left hand side of the transfer unit this needs to be turned to the left to release the roller take the black duplex unit out by sliding it to the fron then the treansfer unit can be pulled gently out.. it is on two runners so it wont fall off you can hten look at the condition of the belt. if it seems ok look on the edges of the belt by gently turning the gear at the back this will feed the belt around.. if it seems ok put it all back in and then put the srews back in close it up and turn on the machine.. wait for it to warm up.. press the yellow clear/cancel button at the top above the number pad then enter 107 then hold down the cnacel/stop button, hold this down till the screen changes.. turn off the machine and bcak on again.. if the reset has worked the machine should run up and be able to copy and print.. if not you will have to do the same proceedure of clear/cancel button routine and once the screen changes select copy sp then go to section 5.mode then scroll down to 810 sc reset. execute and turn off the machine.. wait 5 secs turn on and test again.. if the error code keeps coming back the B.I.C.U Board may be defective and need to be replaced. check the transfer unit condition of the rollers under the plastic clear image belt also.. 1. Contaminated or damaged Imaging unit contacts. - Remove and clean the contacts and inspect for damage.
TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS AND HINTS:
Imaging Unit Failure message occurs because the printer cannot detect imaging unit motion, up-and-down. The Transfer Belt drives this motion, and the Drum Contact Assembly detects it. 1. Swap the Imaging Unit Cotact blocks between two imaging unit positions. If the problem follows the Contact block, it should be replaced. 2. Open the Top Cover and defete the top cover interlock switch. The color imaging units should raise in succession, cyan, magenta, then yellow, and then all lower at once. If one or more imaging units do not raise smoothly or drop prematurely then replace the Transfer Belt assembly.
