I changed out the black ink cartridge and it is still saying change out the other colors. Can the printer print with only the black ink cartridge alone?
No it cannot. Those multi-colored cartridge system requires that you put in every single color, AND ensure that they are not empty before they will print. Even if all you want is a black and white copy.
Thats not true... IT CAN BE CHANGED... you will have to change the settings to MONO from AUTO in the printer settings
I have that problem and right now my printer is saying that I should replace the yellow ink because it cannot recognize the cartridge. I'd like to try a change it to MONO, but can't do that if I don't replace the ink. It just says "invalid action". What do I do?
That's not even an option on this printer. I am not even out of ink, just low on magenta and yellow, and I CANNOT print in black and white no matter what I have tried. My black cartridge is full.

Your Epson printer may have failed to recognize the new ink cartridge, or its ink level system has read it as empty. For numerous Epson printer models, there's a way to bypass this built-in ink checking system through a quick cartridge reset. Raise the printer's top cover and then hold the Ink button.
